The Kandy Machine is a vending machine that first appears in the episode "Rock Bottom."

Description[]

The Kandy Machine is light gray with many red buttons at the bottom of it. There is a glass window near the top that displays the variety of snacks inside. The word "Kandy" is also located at the very top as a neon pink sign. The letter "N" on the sign is backward.

Role in series[]

"Rock Bottom"[]

The Kandy Machine is located right across the bus stop in Rock Bottom. After SpongeBob gets stuck in Rock Bottom and fails to satisfy his hunger with his candy glove, he spots the Kandy Machine across the street and wants to get a Kelp Nougat Crunch bar from it. However, every time he tries to go to the machine, the bus will arrive at the bus stop and then leave before he can get to it.

Eventually, SpongeBob is able to buy his candy bar, but the bus ends up leaving him as usual. A Rock Bottomite then comes and takes SpongeBob's Kelp Nougat Crunch bar from the Kandy Machine, ultimately destroying his opportunity to eat it.

Role in video games[]

Legend of the Lost Spatula[]

It is seen at the start of the Rock Bottom level.

SuperSponge[]

In the levels "Road to Rock Bottom" and "Lonely Souls," the goal is to find the Kandy Machine in order to get some candy. However, both Kandy Machines are empty, much to SpongeBob's annoyance.

Battle for Bikini Bottom/Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated[]

The Kandy Machine reappears in the Rock Bottom level of this game. If SpongeBob goes near it, a bus will pull up and leave, referencing the aforementioned episode.

SpongeBob's Boating Bash[]

The Kandy Machine reappears in the Rock Bottom arena as a decoration.

SpongeBob Simulator[]

It appears in the Rock Bottom zone where the player can use it to get a chocolate bar for rubies.

Trivia[]

  • SpongeBob's dialogue in SuperSponge implies that the Kandy Machines are rarely restocked.
  • One of the candy bars stored in this machine comes in a yellow wrapper with dark blue text, resembling a Butterfinger.
