In "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy II" and the video games, he is a large, muscular pink shrimp with a brown fin and tail. He has four arms, a pair of red eyes on stalks, black eyebrows, and gritted teeth. He wears only a pair of purple swim briefs as clothing. His back is red.
From "The Bad Guy Club for Villains" onwards, he has gotten a redesign and now more closely resembles a shrimp. He is currently a muscular red shrimp with a pair of spiky antennae, two clawed arms, four legs, and a long striped tail with spikes on the end. He wears a blue mask and a blue belt with a black buckle.
The Jumbo Shrimp has super strength, which he can use to toss opponents away or to throw objects at them. The TV narrator once described him as "the most powerful of all crustaceans."
Role in series
"Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy II"
He appears as a cardboard cutout that Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy punch in The Adventures of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy.
"The Bad Guy Club for Villains"
In the lost episode of "The Adventures of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy," he was one of the villains to join the B.G.A.T.F.B.C. (Bad Guys All Together for Book Club). During the fight between the heroes and the villains, he dodges a punch from Mermaid Man and throws him into a wall. At the lost episode's end, he and the other villains reveal that they were together for a book club.
He appears on some of the covers of SpongeBob's Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy comics. Interestingly, both his designs are used.
Role in video games
After defeating the Sinister Slug, the Yellow Avenger starts noticing a pattern related to the recent villain attacks, and goes to ask Plankton if he has noticed anything. Once at the Chum Bucket, Karen tells him that the Jumbo Shrimp came in and took Plankton as part of a scheme to shrink Bikini Bottom, and that he should see the Flying Dutchman. The Dutchman tells him that the two are on the Sea Needle and that a pass is needed to get there.
After getting a pass from Mr. Krabs, the Yellow Avenger confronts the Jumbo Shrimp, who reveals that Plankton helped him build a shrink ray to shrink Bikini Bottom. The Jumbo Shrimp then becomes the game's second boss, and will start throwing crates at the Yellow Avenger. The hero has to use his super strength to pick up crates and throw them at the shrink ray's three power switches to break the shields, before throwing waterballs at the switches to turn them off, ruining the Jumbo Shrimp's plan.
When the Jumbo Shrimp is defeated, he remarks that he will return to get revenge. He then leaves Bikini Bottom, causing the next part of the game to start.
He appears as one of the many minions hired by Plankton to stop SpongeBob, and he first appears in the third level of the game's fourth map, Atlantis Park. He has 60 health and 50 energy points, and his attack is a two-handed uppercut that does 60 damage to SpongeBob. Occasionally, two or more Jumbo Shrimps will appear in the same level.
A cardboard cut-out of him appears in the DS version during the "Mermalair" mini-game, where it can be hit with Waterballs.
He appears as a cardboard cutout that the player fights in one of the nano-games.
He appears as a cardboard cutout that the player can buy and place in Bikini Bottom.

Later, Atomic Flounder, the Dirty Bubble, and Man Ray show up, they all have a meal, and then complain about how Barnacle Boy, SpongeBob, and Patrick ruined their heist plan (Man Ray and Atomic Flounder), cake (Dirty Bubble), and bop bag. They agree that they need to get revenge.
Soon, the four are waiting to pounce on Barnacle Boy, SpongeBob, and Patrick. The four do so and later tie the three up to chairs at Jumbo Shrimp's house. SpongeBob asks what the four are going to do to the three. Jumbo Shrimp suggests a spanking machine. Soon, Mermaid Man shows up with a present for Barnacle Boy because it is his birthday. Soon, Mermaid Man is also tied up to a chair. Soon, the villains are ready to get their revenge. However, Barnacle Boy, whose present was a harmonica, plays his harmonica while SpongeBob and Patrick sing a birthday song for Barnacle Boy.
