  • This episode was originally intended to be called "Plankton's Christmas Wish" and then "Tis The Season to Be Jerky."
  • This is the first appearance of Patchy the Pirate since "Truth or Square" in 2009.
  • The Christmas opening sequence from Christmas Who? will be used again for this special.
  • This marks the last episode to premiere in 2012, as well as the final episode to air from Season 8.
