He is an orange fish with red lips, a light green dorsal fin, and several short strands of hair on his head. He wears glasses, blue slippers, and a purple scarf with blue stripes.

Incidental 88 has only appeared in four episodes so far. He was absent from the series for many years after his short cameo in "The Sponge Who Could Fly" during the "Remembering SpongeBob" sequence, but made a comeback in the Season 8 episode "Hello Bikini Bottom!" He remained retired from the series since his appearance in "Hello Bikini Bottom!" until he made his second comeback in The Patrick Star Show episode, "A Space Affair to Remember." He has yet to have his own speaking role.

He is first seen as a resident of Shady Shoals. He shakes his head and walks away when he sees Mermaid Man yelling. Later, he is seen trying to eat some mashed potatoes in the cafeteria. SpongeBob jumps onto the dining table and starts sucking on it, which causes Incidental 88 to move his plate in disgust.
