Incidental 42 is one of the most common background characters in the series. This character model first appears in the episode "Ripped Pants." 

Description

Incidental 42 is a red-orange fish with beige fins and light olive-green lips who wears a baby blue top.

Role in series

Incidental 42 debuts in "Ripped Pants" as a customer at the bar, paired with Incidental 41. The two fish get angrily annoyed by SpongeBob ripping his pants right in front of them.

In "F.U.N.," Incidental 42 goes to see a movie with Fred, later reaching into Fred's pocket and finds money.

In "Valentine's Day," SpongeBob gives Incidental 42 a bouquet of flowers.

In "Dying for Pie," SpongeBob shows Squidward to Incidental 42 at the park. Squidward says "Hey Frank."

In "Patty Hype," Incidental 42 is a starving fish who desperately needs some food. However, when Mr. Krabs offers a meal at the Krusty Krab, Incidental 42 refuses, saying that there's no pizzazz. The fish then continues searching for food, water, and atmosphere.

In "Prehibernation Week," Incidental 42 whispers to Incidental 49: "This is a load of barnacles." Sandy somehow manages to hear him.

In "Fry Cook Games," Incidental 42 appears in the crowd scene.

In "Club SpongeBob," Incidental 42 is with Nancy in the Kelp Forest where SpongeBob's clubhouse is seen flying past them. He tells Nancy to make a wish.

In "I Had an Accident," Incidental 42 plays football. Peterson Nat Tucker is the coach and says, "Nice catch, Percy!" Peterson then spanks Incidental 42 as a playful gesture, which scares SpongeBob. The pair are later seen next to each other in the seven-mile spanking machine.

In "The Sponge Who Could Fly," Incidental 42 mourns the loss of SpongeBob's pants.

In "Selling Out," when Mr. Krabs mentions the Krabby Patties are full of garbage, Incidental 42 says "What'd he say? Garbage?" and runs out of the restaurant.

In "Krusty Towers," Incidental 42 comes to the eponymous hotel and orders a double Krabby Patty with no onions and extra pickles. Mr. Krabs explains that customers need to rent a room and order room service if they want a patty. Incidental 42 looks at the time and explains "I only have an hour for lunch."

In "Good Ol' Whatshisname," Incidental 42 is named Isabelle and Marv when Squidward reads from the book of names.

In "Gone," Incidental 42 celebrates National No SpongeBob Day and is shown dancing on the ashes.

In "No Hat for Pat," Incidental 42 is part of the group of tourists.

In "The Inside Job," SpongeBob bumps into Incidental 42 and Peterson Nat Tucker due Plankton messing with his sight.

In "Greasy Buffoons," Incidental 42 is seen as a customer at both the Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket, eating greasy patties and chum.

In "The Play's the Thing," Incidental 42 asks Squidward for a Double Krabby meal with extra kelp. Later, Incidental 42 appears in an angry mob that angrily tells Squidward they want their Krabby Patties. Incidental 42 later pays Mr. Krabs to toss Krabby Patties at SpongeBob and Squidward.

In "Glove World R.I.P.," Incidental 42 is seen at Glove World! waiting to ride the Glove Drop.

In "The Hot Shot," Incidental 42 is shown to be one of Mrs. Puff's students at Boating School.

In "Squiditis," Incidental 42 is seen waiting to order at the Krusty Krab.

In "Hello Bikini Bottom!," Incidental 42 is shown chasing SpongeBob and Squidward off the stage.

In "Jailbreak!," Incidental 42 is shown as a security guard at Bikini Bottom Jail.

In "Cuddle E. Hugs," Incidental 42 suffers from food poisoning due to SpongeBob giving everyone balls of the moldy patty for free.

In "Escape from Beneath Glove World," Incidental 42 is at Glove World!.

In "Who R Zoo?," Incidental 42 is seen at the Bubble Zoo.

  • On YouTube, the first episode in the Bikini Bottom Mysteries series is about Incidental 42. It is about all of the changing names and/or identities that this fish has had throughout the episodes.
  • In the game Nicktoons Freeze Frame Frenzy, Incidental 42's bloated model from "Just One Bite" appears, labeled as "Scooter" in the photo album.
