Incidental 42 is one of the most common background characters in the series. This character model first appears in the episode "Ripped Pants."

Names

Description

Incidental 42 is a red-orange fish with beige fins and light olive-green lips who wears a baby blue top. In Season 1 and in some early Season 2 episodes, he had oval shaped eyes, and visible gils on his head.

Incidental 42 debuts in "Ripped Pants" as a customer at the bar, paired with Incidental 41. The two fish get angrily annoyed by SpongeBob ripping his pants right in front of them.

In "F.U.N.," Incidental 42 goes to see a movie with Fred, later reaching into Fred's pocket and finds money.

In "Valentine's Day," SpongeBob gives Incidental 42 a bouquet of flowers.

In "Neptune's Spatula," part of the audience who watch SpongeBob and King Neptune's cooking battle.

In "Dying for Pie," SpongeBob shows Squidward to Incidental 42 at the park. Squidward says "Hey Frank."

In "Patty Hype," Incidental 42 is a starving fish who desperately needs some food. However, when Mr. Krabs offers a meal at the Krusty Krab, Incidental 42 refuses, saying that there's no pizzazz. The fish then continues searching for food, water, and atmosphere.

In "Prehibernation Week," Incidental 42 whispers to Incidental 49: "This is a load of barnacles." Sandy somehow manages to hear him.

In "The Fry Cook Games," Incidental 42 appears in the crowd scene.

In "Club SpongeBob," Incidental 42 is with Nancy in the Kelp Forest where SpongeBob's clubhouse is seen flying past them. He tells Nancy to make a wish.

In "I Had an Accident," Incidental 42 plays football. Peterson Nat Tucker is the coach and says, "Nice catch, Percy!" Peterson then spanks Incidental 42 as a playful gesture, which scares SpongeBob. The pair are later seen next to each other in the seven-mile spanking machine.

In "The Sponge Who Could Fly," Incidental 42 mourns the loss of SpongeBob's pants.

In "Have You Seen This Snail?," he works as a waiter serving food to Gary and Granny.

In "Selling Out," when Mr. Krabs mentions the Krabby Patties are full of garbage, Incidental 42 says "What'd he say? Garbage?" and runs out of the restaurant.

In "Krusty Towers," Incidental 42 comes to the eponymous hotel and orders a double Krabby Patty with no onions and extra pickles. Mr. Krabs explains that customers need to rent a room and order room service if they want a patty. Incidental 42 looks at the time and explains "I only have an hour for lunch."

In "Wigstruck," one of the people who mock SpongeBob's wig, and then later wear a similar wig at the end.

In "Squid Wood," one of the customers at the Krusty Krab who cheer at Squid Wood's performance.

In "Good Ol' Whatshisname," Incidental 42 is named Isabelle and Marv when Squidward reads from the book of names.

In "Sing a Song of Patrick," one of the people who's hurt because of Patrick's song.

In "Goo Goo Gas," one of the customers at the Krusty Krab.

In "Mermaid Man vs. SpongeBob," he is the customer who slaps Susie's patty away due too Plankton brainwashing Mermaid Man that they are evil.

In "Pest of the West," he is the customer who SpongeBob serves a Krabby Patty to at the beginning of the episode.

In "The Two Faces of Squidward," part of the crowd that admires Squidward's handsome face.

In "Gone," Incidental 42 celebrates National No SpongeBob Day and is shown dancing on the ashes.

In "No Hat for Pat," Incidental 42 is part of the group of tourists.

In "The Inside Job," SpongeBob bumps into Incidental 42 and Peterson Nat Tucker due Plankton messing with his sight.

In "Greasy Buffoons," Incidental 42 is seen as a customer at both the Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket, eating greasy patties and chum.

In "The Play's the Thing," Incidental 42 asks Squidward for a Double Krabby meal with extra kelp. Later, Incidental 42 appears in an angry mob that angrily tells Squidward they want their Krabby Patties. Incidental 42 later pays Mr. Krabs to toss Krabby Patties at SpongeBob and Squidward.

In "Glove World R.I.P.," Incidental 42 is seen at Glove World! waiting to ride the Glove Drop.

In "Drive Thru," he is one of the many people to use the Krusty Krab drive-thru.

In "Glove World R.I.P.," he is seen at Glove World.

In "The Hot Shot," Incidental 42 is shown to be one of Mrs. Puff's students at Boating School.

In "Squiditis," Incidental 42 is seen waiting to order at the Krusty Krab.

In "Hello Bikini Bottom!," Incidental 42 is shown chasing SpongeBob and Squidward off the stage.

In "License to Milkshake," he is one of the people ordering milkshake at the end.

In "Little Yellow Book," he is one of the people at the Krusty Krabs. Later can be seen as one of the people throwing tomatoes at Squidward.

In "Jailbreak!, Incidental 42 is shown as a security guard at Bikini Bottom Jail.

In "Squid Plus One," he is one of the people invited to Galleria Diphteria's opening night.

In "Larry's Gym," he is one of the gym members.

In "Bulletin Board," he is one of the people at the Krusty Krab.

In "Snail Mail," he is one of the audience of SpongeBob's flight.

In "SpongeBob's Place," he is one of the customers at SpongeBob's Place.

In "Trident Trouble," he is one of the Krusty Krab's customers.

In "Sportz?," he is part of the audience watching the "sports" game.

In "Lost and Found," he is one of the people running away from Bikini Bottom because of snowglobe-induced earthquake.

In "Patrick's Coupon," Patrick bumps into him on the street, then Patrick accused him of wanting Patrick's coupon. Later, he can be seen at the ice cream store.

In "Cuddle E. Hugs," Incidental 42 suffers from food poisoning due to SpongeBob giving everyone balls of the moldy patty for free.

In "Who R Zoo?," Incidental 42 is seen at the Bubble Zoo.

In "Escape from Beneath Glove World," Incidental 42 is at Glove World!.
