Incidental 40 is one of the show's most common incidental characters. He first appears in the episode "Ripped Pants." He is classified as a "hotdog" type incidental.
Names
- In "Roller Cowards" and "Gary in Love" he was named Harold.
- In "Porous Pockets," he was named Bill.
- In "Welcome to the Bikini Bottom Triangle," he was named Reginald.

Description
He is usually a cyan fish with a pointy dark blue dorsal fin. On the sides of his head, there are light reddish-purple spots. He has light salmon lips and black eyes. He is also shown with sharp teeth in earlier appearances.
In his early appearances, he doesn't wear any clothes. In later episodes, he usually wears a white shirt with a red speedo.
Role in series
Incidental 40 is one of the most commonly used incidental characters, he has had many speaking & notable roles as well as minor & non-speaking roles, he is also one of the most hostile background characters on the show, as he often starts arguments.
