Incidental 38A is an incidental character who first appears in "Squirrel Jokes." He is an alternate model of Incidental 38 (Scooter) and he is classified as a secondary character-type incidental.
Description[]
He is a bluish-lavender fish with pale blue fins and light teal lips. He wears teal swimming trunks with a yellow floral design.
Personality[]
Although he is an incidental, Incidental 38A is shown to have a consistent personality in his few appearances. He is shown to have a groovy personality much like Scooter's original personality and also speaks in a surfer lingo just like he does.
Role in series[]
Incidental 38A has made three episode appearances in the series so far. Although all of his appearances are supporting roles where he is shown to have Scooter's original personality and voice.

"Squirrel Jokes"/Comic Number 10[]
He makes fun of Sandy with Incidental 28 and Incidental 37B by "communicating" with her.
"SpongeGuard on Duty"/Comic Number 13/Friends Forever[]
He, Incidental 37A, and Sandals first ask Larry the Lobster how the tubage is and Larry tells them that it's gnarly. He later appears chugging a box of hot dogs at the Annual Hot Dog Chug. He is then seen getting hit on the head repeatedly by Incidental 24 while at Goo Lagoon. Later, he is seen when SpongeBob gives out free ice cream and is seen going surfing when SpongeBob wraps do not cross tape around. After SpongeBob tells everyone that Goo Lagoon is closed, Scooter tells SpongeBob that he and other beach goers like Larry the Lobster. He lastly tells SpongeBob to get his butt in the water after Patrick was seen drowning in Goo Lagoon.
"My Pretty Seahorse"/Comic Number 13[]
He finds Mystery the Seahorse tied up at the Krusty Krab entrance with Incidental 37B where they believe that she is a kiddie ride. Incidental 37B tells him to try the ride out, although when he attempts to insert his coin into Mystery, she kicks him away into the distance which causes him to explode.
"Little Floater's Wild Weekend"[]
Either he or Scooter is implied by his voice to be the Blow Off staff member fish who repeatedly mistakes SpongeBob for a door and whom SpongeBob claims to not recognize.

He replaces Scooter's role in the book in the Read to Me version as the surfer with the broken surfboard.
