Characters[]

Synopsis[]

The episode starts as all the kids are bored while Perch Perkins says that there is nothing to do. Meanwhile, Squidward is relaxing on his chair, while Patrick and Sandy are bored and are throwing rocks at a tree stump. Sandy wishes that the adults had planned some activities for the day, while SpongeBob says that he could watch them both be bored for hours. Squidward then says that it is great because he gets to spend the time with his three favorite campers, in which the trio get excited thinking it is them, but Squidward says that they are "him, himself, and he," as the three are disappointed. A stump next to SpongeBob starts talking and asks if they want something to do. Patrick replies that they want something to do to the "magic stump." Narlene appears, making SpongeBob yell in surprise. Narlene says that she has a doozy for the three of them, and asks them if they have ever seen a nudist camp. SpongeBob asks what it is, so Narlene responds that it is a camp with people in their "birthday suits," totally naked, which makes SpongeBob and Patrick laugh. Sandy says it is ridiculous because "who would let the sun shine where the sun does not shine," but Narlene says it is ridiculously real.

Sandy says that she needs to see this for science, so she asks where it is. Nobby comes out to draw the "map." Narlene says to follow the path into the dark woods, find the rock that looks like Squidward and turn right, and if they fall in the bottomless chasm, they will have gone too far. Nobby goes back into the stump as Sandy suggests that they should study Narlene's map a little closer, but Patrick says that he has a phonographic memory. Narlene enters the stump again as they go into the woods. Camp Master Krabs is drinking his coffee while he comments how quiet and peaceful it is. He then realizes that kids are not peaceful and quiet, so he runs to Counselor Squidward and asks where his cabin went. He says that they went to some nudist camp. Mr. Krabs is shocked at this and grabs Squidward and stretches him as he says that the kids are not ready to bear the harsh realities of the adult form, and he will be blamed for any trouble. He tells Squidward to help him go get them before the kids see the hippie "hoo-ha" show, but Squidward objects by saying that it is his day off and that he will not leave his chair. Mr. Krabs starts walking and Squidward follows him with his head in his chair.

SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy are seen laughing, as SpongeBob blows up to a bubble being Mrs. Puff. Sandy imitates Mr. Krabs, resembling his eyes and nose and saying "where is his money." Patrick does nothing, and spit comes down his face, and SpongeBob guesses that it is Patrick, as all three of them laugh. SpongeBob then points to something and asks if it is the rock that looks like Squidward. The rock is revealed to be a fat-looking Squidward. Patrick and Sandy "confirm" that it is Squidward, so SpongeBob says that they go starboard. SpongeBob asks what they think the camp will look like. Sandy says that it could be her biggest scientific expedition yet, and how much she will learn about fish anatomy. In her thought, Patrick says that he wants to eat nude food. SpongeBob, while blowing away the thought clouds, says that he just wanted to go hiking with his two best friends, but is sad because his other best friend, Squidward, could not make it.

While in the woods, Squidward says that he hates them and bugs are biting him, as someone leaves trash everywhere, and the trees keep messing with him. Mr. Krabs tells him to not be paranoid because it is just nature. Two trees hit Squidward and make him fall to the ground and laugh, but when Squidward turns around, they do not move. Mr. Krabs tells Squidward to stop lollygagging, and asks him where they need to go. Squidward says that they need to turn right at the rock that looks like him. Mr. Krabs says that he found it, and it is the fat one, so Squidward walks up and points left to find a thin-looking rock that also looks like him. Mr. Krabs asks that if he is sure because he thinks it is the other one.

SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy pop out of some tall grass, as Sandy thinks that they are lost. Patrick says he will use his phonographic memory. Inside his head, a hand smashes the record player, and Patrick says that they are doomed. Narlene comes out of the hole from the tree, making SpongeBob jump and land on Sandy. Narlene says that they are far off course, as SpongeBob says that they cannot remember anything on her map. She says that if they still want to see the camp, they need to take a dangerous shortcut, by crossing the log if they want to pass the bottomless chasm and the camp is in the clearing. They walk up to the log, and SpongeBob touches it, and the whole thing moves, saying it is unsafe. Patrick says to him to not be a baby, and proceeds to do tricks on the log, and comes back and lets the other pass. When they finish, he goes and the log breaks, and he falls into the chasm, but then comes back up, and when he does, he says it was perfectly safe, then his arm falls off.

Squidward, meanwhile, says that he is tired of nature, and that Mr. Krabs should leave him there, to which he is surprised. Squidward then says that he should not be alone because he is defenseless. Mr. Krabs makes him a wooden spear to protect him from wild animals, and then leaves, saying he has to stop the kids and save their innocence. A bunny comes in with a fork and knife, and Squidward gets scared. Mr. Krabs assumes he arrived at the nudist camp because the fish is nude, but the fish tells him that he is a bridge between clothed and unclothed. Mr. Krabs says that he is from the camp across the street and he will take a look around, but the fish will not let him with his clothes.

SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy come out of the forest as Narlene and Nobby appear. Narlene pulls a vine to make a clearing, to discover only that the nudist camp was really a new-dust camp, right next to old-dust camp. She reveals that it was made with Nobby's head dust. Sandy says that Narlene already had her fun, and tells SpongeBob and Patrick to go back home. Narlene then says that she was messing with them, and that the real nudist camp was just up ahead. They run up to a hole in the wall, destroying both old and new dust camps. They each had an eye inside the camp. as they see nude fish, as their real-life counterparts, playing volleyball, around the campfire, tanning, and paragliding. Sandy says it is stranger than she ever imagined. SpongeBob says that fish look weird without clothes. Patrick says especially the big, ugly guy, which is a crab.

They discover that it is Mr. Krabs, who says that being the dad of a big baby does not leave him much time to exercise or to eat well, while the kids are disgusted. He leaves, saying to forget what happened. Patrick says that that was embarrassing for him, while SpongeBob and Sandy find him naked. Sandy asks where his clothes are, and he says that he did not want them. SpongeBob and Sandy follow him, and SpongeBob tells him to at least put on some shoes and Patrick says never. Narlene gets into a stump again and closes the latch as the episode ends.

Production[]

This episode's first draft script was completed on August 14, 2019.[1]

On Twitter, Vincent Waller posted a censored and drawn-over copy of an episode script written by Andrew Goodman on August 23, 2019, with the only visible letters being "-ist."[1] When asked about the script, he stated it was a "funny" one for Kamp Koral,[2] being the first production sneak peek at the series.

On March 3, 2021, the episode's full title ("In Search of Camp Noodist") was confirmed, thus turning out to be the script that Waller had posted nearly a year and a half ago.
