"InSPONGEiac" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season 8. In this episode, SpongeBob can't get enough sleep, and asks for help from Patrick.

Synopsis
It is a fine day in Bikini Bottom, and down at the Krusty Krab, SpongeBob adds one percent too much mustard to the Krabby Patties. Mr. Krabs isn't happy with this, as this excess would lead him to bankruptcy within the next four hundred and eleven years, however, he assumes SpongeBob is an insomniac, so he sends him home to get some shut-eye.
"Boy, it sure is quiet around here."
SpongeBob has a hard time sleeping, so he goes to Patrick's house. Patrick tries to help SpongeBob fall asleep by reading what SpongeBob assumed was a bedtime story. However, the story, "The Land of Perpetual Excitement," was meant to get people out of bed, the opposite of SpongeBob's goal. Then, Patrick sings SpongeBob a "lullaby," which is really a wake-up song, as it is sung loudly as the song goes on, with the lyrics stating to "get up" and "be active." Then Patrick gives SpongeBob some "medicine" which turns out to be coffee, and keeps SpongeBob wide awake.
After realizing he drank coffee, SpongeBob starts running around and seeing things, such as a talking glass of milk, a bunch of Squidwards, Mr. Krabs with mustard releasers as eyes, reflecting the previous day, etc. The next thing he knows is Patrick eating him, thinking he's a sponge cake. Inside Patrick, SpongeBob sees a sunrise. He begs it to let him sleep for just five minutes before he meets Sir Cecil the sleep wizard. Sir Cecil puts sleepy dust on SpongeBob, then he falls asleep. When SpongeBob wakes up in Gary's litter box, realizing that the whole thing was false, he snaps back to reality.
Realizing he's late for work, a very tired SpongeBob goes to the Krusty Krab, only to sleep in a barrel of mustard. Mr. Krabs takes him out of the barrel of ruined mustard, and wonders why he couldn't sleep. SpongeBob confesses that his "insomnia" got the best of him. Then, he starts crying tears made of mustard. He cries the perfect amount that is needed to be on the patties. Squidward is happy and claims that it's the best day of work ever, because he got to see SpongeBob being forced to cry mustard.

- This episode was first announced at the SpongeBob panel at Comic-Con on August 1, 2011. At the panel, several crew members discussed the initial synopsis for this episode with Mr. Krabs having a nightmare and turning into a mustard dispenser.[1]
- This episode was scheduled to air on January 16, 2012, but was pulled due to the plot change.[citation needed]
- This episode premiered in the "Two Whole Weeks of Never Before Seen SpongeBob" event.
- The close-up of SpongeBob's eyes in the title card is used later on in the episode, but crookedly different.
- This close-up is similar to the one in "Night Light."
- This episode marks the fourth instance in which SpongeBob appears in the title card. The first was "What Ever Happened to SpongeBob?," the second was "Oral Report," and the third was "Restraining SpongeBob."
- SpongeBob was deprived of sleep before in "Fear of a Krabby Patty." His sleep deprivation once again led to hallucinations. Both hallucinations also had to do with work. He was also deprived of sleep in "I ♥ Dancing" where Squidward forces him to dance until he collapses.
- This episode's plot is similar to "Squidward in Clarinetland." Both SpongeBob and Squidward get lost in a new land. Then they both come out of it, realizing it was a dream.
- Although, Squidward experienced it in the locker, while SpongeBob experienced it from insomnia.
- Mr. Krabs had not reacted before over SpongeBob flipping the patties a different way.
- This episode premiered on March 24, 2013 in the British Isles after the local Kids' Choice Awards.
- In the Croatian dub, the episode name is "Nesaničar," translating to "Insomniac."
- After this episode aired during the Every SpongeBob Ever marathon, the marathon abruptly ended without warning.
Errors
- In the beginning, when SpongeBob is mopping and goes to the left side, the holes on his face are flipped.
- When Mr. Krabs calculates and gets 411, he is adding numbers that made a much higher number. The real answer is 511.
Two errors in one: SpongeBob's eye is misleadingly colored and both his eyes are missing eyelashes.
- When SpongeBob gets pushed out of the Krusty Krab, his left eye turns yellow for a split second and his eyelashes are missing.
Squidward's house is missing.
- When SpongeBob runs to Patrick's house, Squidward's house is missing. This error also occurs in "The Secret Box" and "Missing Identity."
- When the Gary bird flies SpongeBob up to the "Patrick Mountain," his nightcap is missing.
- The scene where SpongeBob crashes on the bed, for a split second a large piece of it disappears.
- When SpongeBob wakes up in his house, he still has his night clothes on, but when he exits the house to go to work, he suddenly has his regular clothes on.
