The narrator compares them to coral reefs, which house many different types of aquatic organisms. He explains that some parts of the Great Barrier Reef are over 50,000 years old and have been home to countless species.
The narrator shows a hermit crab and talks about how they carry their homes on their backs. Garden eels are described as community-building fish who live in sand. Finally, parrotfish are shown to create cocoons out of mucus to live in. The short ends with a recap of the Great Barrier Reef's deteriorating state and a call to action for Junior Citizens of the Reef, as the short ends.
