Synopsis[]
Perch Perkins introduces Kamp Koral's annual karate tournament, only to be attacked by Sandy, who has won every year. All the campers hide except SpongeBob, who admires Sandy's collection of karate badges. Sandy demonstrates that he can easily beat him, and SpongeBob is motivated to win against her and get a badge of his own. SpongeBob is once again intimidated when Sandy effortlessly defeats Bubble Bass, Harvey, and Kevin. He goes out to the forest and practices sparring against a sea bunny, who slams him against the ground repeatedly and then hops away. Narlene and Nobby arrive, collecting leaves for Narlene's new jacket, and notice SpongeBob lying on the ground in defeat. Narlene tells him that Nobby can teach him Hill-Fu, a backwoods style of karate.
For his first lesson, SpongeBob practices "kicking like a sea mule." One of his shoes flies off and hits the mule, which kicks him into a pile of manure. Narlene tells SpongeBob that he cannot wear shoes while practicing Hill-Fu, and Nobby takes them off. Next, SpongeBob tries splitting wood with a karate chop; he hands disintegrate, and he hits the log with his head, causing his body to split in half. For his third lesson, SpongeBob fishes as Nobby spins him around repeatedly to test his balance. He succeeds, but fishes up the mule, which kicks him again. Nobby then has SpongeBob run around with a plow attached to him, making him exhausted and unconfident. Narlene advises him to use his brain instead of his body, and plays some banjo music to encourage him.
SpongeBob completes his training, and Nobby awards him a rope belt, a corncob pipe, and his own pair of overalls. SpongeBob returns to camp, only to find it deserted. He notices Patrick and Plankton hiding in the kitchen, and Sandy appears to attack both of them, throwing them on top of a pile of defeated campers. Sandy arrogantly tells SpongeBob to give up, but he refuses. He kicks Sandy backwards into the cabin, as the other campers cheer. Sandy throws him into the camp director's cabin, destroying it. Next, SpongeBob uses his pipe to create some bubble ninjas, as he had done during his training, and Sandy easily pops them. SpongeBob rolls a giant boulder towards Sandy, balancing on top of it, and she jumps up and chops it in half.
The two fight across the camp, as Nobby and Narlene watch, cheering for SpongeBob. They end up on top of Mrs. Puff's lighthouse. Sandy threatens to use a move she has never shown anyone before. Worried, SpongeBob realizes that he has used all the moves Nobby taught him. However, he remembers Narlene's advice: that his brain is his most powerful weapon. SpongeBob takes out his brain and throws it at Sandy, blinding her and leading her to knock them both off the lighthouse and into the water.
SpongeBob and Sandy begin laughing about their fight, with Sandy satisfied about finally having a worthy opponent. They agree to share the karate badge. Nobby shows up and attacks them both, and Narlene takes the badge, declaring Nobby the rightful winner. She puts it on her jacket, transforming it to look cooler, and happily runs off with Nobby. SpongeBob and Sandy agree to have a rematch next summer, and Sandy slaps SpongeBob into the screen, ending the episode.
