The Goofy Manager, also called The Goobfather[1] and Barry[2], is a fish who first appears in the episode "The Goofy Newbie." He is the manager of Goofy Goober's Ice Cream Party Boat as well as the Goobfather, which is his secondary persona.[1]

He later reappears in The Patrick Star Show, where he shows up with a variety of jobs.

Description[]

He is a slightly overweight light blue fish wearing a white shirt with pink stripes, purple pants, a red bow tie, black shoes, and a hat like the Goofy Goober's. As the Goobfather, he wears a black suit and hat.

In The Patrick Star Show, he instead wears a light yellow shirt with a gold name tag, a green tie, purple pants, and black shoes. According to Patrick in "FitzPatrick," the Goofy Manager's real name is Barry.

Personality[]

The Goofy Manager is shown to be generally respectable about his businesses, taking action on those who break the rules if he catches them. In "The Goofy Newbie" and "Bummer Jobs," he fires his employees for their bad performances. In "Goofy Scoopers", he replaces the Goofy Scoopers once they prove unpopular with the kids visiting the restaurant. Throughout "Gas Station Vacation," he reminds the Star family of Gas Land's policies. "FitzPatrick" shows that the Goofy Manager does genuinely consider Patrick a friend and has a good relationship with the Star family.

Role in series[]

SpongeBob SquarePants[]

"The Goofy Newbie"[]

He hires Patrick as an employee at Goofy Goober's Ice Cream Party Boat. Patrick does not do well at his first three jobs, causing the manager to give him one more chance on his second day.

When SpongeBob helps Patrick by making ice cream for the children, he is pleased by Patrick's performance and finally lets him go on his break and eat all the ice cream he can handle. However, Patrick manages to eat nearly all the ice cream in the entire parlor, which causes him to get a brain freeze that freezes the entire earth for five billion years. He finally fires Patrick after this event.

"Goofy Scoopers"[]

At the start of the episode, the Goofy Manager brings a Triple Gooberberry Sunrise to Patrick. Patrick cheers in anticipation of the Goofy Scoopers show, knocking the sundae onto the manager's head. He then eats it off of him, to the manager's annoyance. After the performance, SpongeBob and Patrick are the only ones left in the restaurant, and the manager kicks them out for the night.

The manager lets SpongeBob and Patrick in the next day, explaining that he fired the Goofy Scoopers, threw them in the garbage, and replaced them with DJ 2 Sc00pz. SpongeBob and Patrick cry, so the manager kicks them out again.

During the dance montage at the end, the Goofy Manager is seen enjoying the music. SpongeBob and Patrick press up against him, and he looks surprised.

"The Goobfather"[]

In this episode, the Goofy Manager is revealed to have a secondary persona as the "Goobfather," a mafioso-style boss who prevents the sale of ice cream in any restaurant but his own. He has his goons shut down Mr. Krabs' Patty Whip machine. When Mr. Krabs repairs it and continues selling them without permission, the Goobfather goes to war with him, and the two attempt to sabotage each other.

Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob team up to distract the Goobfather and melt Goofy Goober's ice cream, enraging him. He approaches Mr. Krabs with his restaurant, and the two battle. This is interrupted by the Ice Cream King, who makes them realize that ice cream is meant to be shared. His bomb covers the town in ice cream, making the Goobfather agree with Mr. Krabs that their businesses are now futile.

The Patrick Star Show[]

"Bummer Jobs"[]

He hires Patrick and SpongeBob as bag boys for the Scuttle-N-Save. However, Patrick's blindfolded antics cause him to fire the two, before launching them out of the store with cannons.

"Gas Station Vacation"[]

He is the manager of Gas Land, mistaken to be its "mascot" by Patrick. Throughout the episode, he tries to catch the family and kick them out, but they cause more destruction than he can keep up with.

"Mid-Season Finale"[]

The Goofy Manager appears as a stage manager, deciding which Patrick to bring onto the show. When the Patricks begin fighting, he fires them all, and calls in a row of ballet-dancing Patricks instead.

"FitzPatrick"[]

FitzPatrick puts his hair on Patrick and sabotages the Goofy Scoopers' performance. The manager thinks Patrick is responsible, and has Big Jim kick him out. It turns out that Patrick regularly gets kicked out every week, and he and the manager enthusiastically wave to each other, with the latter saying, "Say hi to your dad for me!" In this episode, it's revealed his first name is Barry.

"Uncredible Journey"[]

He is a store clerk at Trader Barg'n's. When Pinkeye, Ouchie, and Tinkle enter, he kicks them out because pets are not allowed in the store. The pets disguise themselves as a human, and while the manager looks at them in confusion, he lets them check out their items. Since Tinkle does not have any money, he distracts the manager by pointing somewhere, then steals the food when he is not looking. The manager calls the customers to stop the pets, but they manage to escape with the food.

"Movie Stars"[]

He appears throughout the episode as the manager of the Infiniplex. He first appears getting the audience hyped for the movie, before revealing they cannot watch it because the staff has taken the day off. He explains that the movie will not show unless he can find "two simpletons who want to work for free," and SpongeBob and Patrick volunteer for the job. The manager puts them to work tearing tickets, checking for people sneaking in food, selling concessions, and spooling the movie reels.

Once the reels are set up for a short before the film, the manager gives SpongeBob and Patrick a box of objects and explains that since he did not pay for a 3D projector, he needs them to sell the illusion of 3D by throwing items at the audience. When they are in the middle of it, he yells at them to spool the reels for the movie. Once it's set up, SpongeBob and Patrick watch the movie, but the manager again bosses them around and does not let them watch it.

Mermaid Worm and Barnacle Barnacle, from inside the movie screen, call him out for exploiting SpongeBob and Patrick. The manager charges at them and gets stuck inside the movie himself, where they beat him up. He sees the audience eating snacks they have brought from home, and when he gets angry at them, they respond by throwing the snacks at him. The movie ends with Mermaid Worm punching the manager in the face.
