Synopsis[]
The episode begins one morning in Jelly Meadows. Perch and Harvey get ready for a day of reporting, and they start by interviewing SpongeBob. When Perch tells SpongeBob that he is the only kid to not have caught a jellyfish, which makes SpongeBob tear up. However, he assures him that if he had caught one, he would not be on the news. SpongeBob laughs, and Harvey interrupts, thinking that the laughter is that of a martian. Perch gets angry at him for thinking martian invasions are real, but Harvey sticks to his theory.
Next, Perch does a weather skit with Tall Tail. He is so tall that he can see above the clouds, predicting clear skies. He then gets rained on and struck by lightning. Mr. Krabs advertises the camp store, and various yam-themed products. Next, Perch interviews Sandy, who has invented a combination volcano and rocket. Sandy launches it, and Perch and Harvey stare in awe. The rocket begins crashing down, but disintegrates upon re-entry. Impressed, Perch asks Sandy where she is from, so he can give a shout-out to her home town. Sandy says that she is from "up there" (meaning Texas), but Harvey thinks she is a martian. Sandy gets offended and intimidates Perch, then kicks the camera in.
The camera switches to an art show with Squidward judging. He harshly critiques all the campers' pieces, making them cry. One kid bites him, so the rest gang up and attack him, ending with him being hung from the display and insulted. On the next skit, SpongeBob and Patrick are panicking about martians. When they see Mrs. Puff walking out of her lighthouse, she is loading a lookalike dummy of her into a boat. Harvey and Perch now fear that the martians are switching their own bodies with the campers, thinking all the campers are aliens.
Perch and Harvey go into the camp's old boathouse, which is full of lifeless, soulless bodies hanging from the ceiling. Sandy and Mrs. Puff enter, and place two more. Harvey climbs up and falls on top of Perch and Bubble Bass's body. They pop Bubble Bass's head off, and run around screaming. Around the camp, they see that all the campers are eyeless and floating away when approached.
Surrounded by "martian clones," Harvey and Perch grab weapons and bash them all, exposing candy inside. A horde of angry campers surround them, revealing that all the "martians" were just pinatas made for a celebration. Mrs. Puff tells the campers to pick up their candy, so they mob Perch and Harvey.
That night, at the dock, Perch and Harvey reflect on how their suspicion got the better of them. Suddenly, a pinata-shaped UFO descends from the sky. The two are abducted, but Harvey drops the camera and cannot record it. The UFO captures them and flies off, with Harvey claiming he is recording it mentally.
