Location

The Mariana Trench is a large trench. It is first mentioned in the educational PC game SpongeBob SquarePants Typing, and later appears physically in the episode "Scavenger Pants."

Description[]

It is depicted as a very deep canyon in the series. It has purple edges and contains a few species of plants, unlike in real life. It is located in the Pacific Ocean near Guam in real life.

Role in episode[]

Squidward tells SpongeBob and Patrick that their next item to find on their scavenger hunt is the Boxing Begonia, which is found in the Mariana Trench. The pair then go to the Mariana Trench, but need a rope to climb down. SpongeBob ties a rope he has to a rock and uses it to climb down, but Patrick takes the rope off the rock when trying to find a longer rope for SpongeBob. Patrick then slips down into the trench, and he and SpongeBob end up falling to the trench's bottom, where they find the Boxing Begonia.
