Every SpongeBob Ever was an event that took place twice on Nickelodeon's sister channel, Nicktoons.
The first event, which originally started on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at 6:00 PM, was planned to run non-stop for six days. Nicktoons promised to air all 247 existent episodes in Nickelodeon's packaging order (which also included special episodes and the TV movies), leading up to the premiere of "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout" on Friday, July 12 at 7:00 PM. The marathon celebrated the 20th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants, similar to how 2009's The Ultimate SpongeBob SpongeBash marathon celebrated the show's 10th anniversary.[1]
Following the airing of "InSPONGEiac" on the morning of Thursday, July 11 at 6:00 AM, the marathon abruptly ended without warning. Nicktoons resumed the event 16 hours later, but the episodes selected for broadcast were not shown in the official order and did not continue where it left off.[2][3] On the morning of Friday, July 11 at 10:00 AM, there was a 9 hour marathon on Nickelodeon, leading up to the premiere of "SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout."[4]
The second event started on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 9:00 PM and concluded on March 8, 2021. The marathon promoted the release of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years on Paramount+ and its rebranding (then known as CBS All Access). Unlike the first event, the second marathon was only broadcast every night between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM, with limited commercial breaks starting at 2:00 AM and one segment was only broadcast at 3:15 AM. Sneak peeks of Sponge on the Run were also shown.[5]
Despite the last minute changes, the 2019 Every SpongeBob Ever event set a record for the longest, continuous marathon of the series, running for 84 hours. Previously, The Ultimate SpongeBob SpongeBash event from 2009 held that record, running for 50 hours.
Both marathons corresponded to a SpongeBob SquarePants anniversary.
The first half of the twelfth season was going to premiere on Nicktoons, but was cancelled due to its abrupt break and changing plans for the season 12 premiere schedule.
During the first event, there was a special version of the Nicktoons screenbug in which "Toons" was in a spongy text and SpongeBob's eyes took the place of the O's.
During the second event, the subtitle "EVERY SPONGEBOB EVER" appeared on top of the regular Nicktoons logo. Stock art of SpongeBob also appeared along with the subtitle during the first and last minute of all segments.
On March 4 at 6:00 AM, all the network's logos temporarily changed to blue, to celebrate the launch of Paramount+. This lasted exactly 2 days.
On March 6 at 6:00 AM, an image of an orange blimp with the network's name was used to promote the then-upcoming 2021 Kids' Choice Awards for one week. Because of this, the "EVERY SPONGEBOB EVER" subtitle was no longer used.
In addition to the above, there were split screen advertising errors throughout the airings on Saturday night. This was addressed for the following night.[7]
"The Great Snail Race" and "Mid-Life Crustacean" were aired for the last time on Nicktoons before they were permanently pulled for future airings and streaming a month later.
