Things are going well at the Krusty Krab. Everyone is enjoying their Krabby Patties, until an alarm blares. Everyone is panicking, and Mr. Krabs shouts to Squidward "Can you spot him?" Squidward, looking through a telescope, replies "down there sir!" A small [[Krabby Patty]] mysteriously bounces to a wall, then makes a hole in it with a laser. It goes outside, and SpongeBob chases after it. After a long chase, SpongeBob finally catches the [[Krabby Patty]], which is being stolen by Plankton. Plankton walks off looking really sad, and SpongeBob befriends him. A police fish makes SpongeBob 'Rookie of the day', and everyone sings 'For he's a jolly good rookie'. SpongeBob invites Plankton to jellyfish with him, and, realising he can take advantage of SpongeBob, Plankton goes. SpongeBob warns Plankton to "watch out for the stingers". As soon as he says this, Plankton imagines himself controlling a giant jellyfish shooting laser-like electricity everywhere. Plankton doesn't know what fun is, so SpongeBob tries to explain it by singing the F.U.N. song. Plankton makes up a version of his own, but SpongeBob interrupts him, claiming that "those things aren't what fun is all about!". Eventually, Plankton and SpongeBob sing the song together, and Plankton seems to finally be having fun. He is feeling all tingly inside and asks SpongeBob "Should we stop?" SpongeBob explains that this is how "fun" is supposed to feel. Plankton realizes that he likes the feeling, and the two sing the F.U.N. song 2. When Mr. Krabs finds out what's happening, he sets up a trap. They go to the cinema together, and Mr. Krabs shouts "reach into his pocket now and take what he's got!". Everyone reaches into each other's pockets and finds money. SpongeBob reaches into Plankton's pocket and finds a [[Krabby Patty]]. SpongeBob realises that Plankton used him to get a Krabby Patty, and Plankton runs off with it. However, he does not know that behind the cinema screen is a concrete wall (the movie said "Oh darling, I know nothing will ever tear us apart.", which is ironically just what happens because of Plankton). Plankton is squashed, and Mr. Krabs flicks him off the wall onto [[Bubble Bass]]' hand, who mistakes Plankton for a jellybean and chases him around his hand.

SpongeBob: Why can’t you just accept our friendship?

Mr. Krabs: He’s just after me recipe. I’ll prove it to you. (walks up to Plankton) Ah, you must be hungry after that long walk over here.

Plankton: Oh, yes, but I’m saving my appetite for some popcorn at the movies.

Mr. Krabs: Uhh...suit yourself. (walks off then comes back to push the plate closer to Plankton. Uses a fan to get the smell to Plankton)

SpongeBob: We’ve had enough of your little tests, Mr. Krabs! (turns the fan off) Come on Plankton, let’s get out of here. (both walk away)

Mr. Krabs: Maybe the lad was right. Maybe Plankton’s gone straight. (plate falls down revealing that it was cardboard) Or maybe scallops will fly out of my pants! (takes the boat and paddles to the movies) Hold on there laddie, I’m a-comin’! (at the movies, SpongeBob & Plankton are sitting in the front row. SpongeBob is giving popcorn to Plankton as he is eating some himself. Then Bubblebass comes down and sits in Plankton's seat, squishing him)

SpongeBob: I sure like sequels, Plankton. (sees Bubblebass in his spot) Hey Bubblebass, you’re sitting on my friend. (Bubblebass gets comfortable in his seat) Hey Bubblebass! (throws some popcorns and Bubblebass runs after it)

Plankton: Thanks for that, friend.

SpongeBob: Sure thing, pal.

Mr. Krabs: Listen up! (Mr. Krabs shadow is in ''The Lord of the Rings'')

SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs? (in the projector room)

Mr. Krabs: He’s deceiving ya! Reach into his pocket now and take what he’s got! (the ladies reach in their husbands pockets and takes out a watch, some money and a piggy bank then run off) You too, boy! (SpongeBob reaches into Plankton's pocket and takes out a krabby patty)

SpongeBob: (gasps) I can’t believe this!

Plankton: It’s not what you think.

SpongeBob: What is it then? What do you see here?

Plankton: I… I don’t see anything.

SpongeBob: (crying) How can you not see it?

Plankton: Ok, ok, I see it! It’s a Krabby Patty, ok? I couldn’t help it!

SpongeBob: But you sang the Bun Song! I think I’m gonna be sick. How long?

SpongeBob: How long were you planning on doing this? Tell me! What?

Plankton: (crying) Alright, it’s true! I tricked you to get the Krabby Patty! But then you showed me friendship! And now I realize, that’s all I really wanted.

SpongeBob: Really? (Plankton grabs the patty and jumps towards the screen)

Plankton: No, not really. Being evil is too much fun! (Plankton laughs)

Movie: Oh darling, I know that nothing could ever tear us apart. (Plankton rips through the screen)

SpongeBob: Mr. Krabs, he’s gone. He got the patty. He won.

Mr. Krabs: Ho-ho, no he didn’t, boy! Don't you know what’s behind these screens? Solid concrete! (laughs. Plankton is squished on the wall. Mr. Krabs takes the krabby patty)

SpongeBob: I’m sorry, Mr. Krabs. I thought Plankton had changed.

Mr. Krabs: It's okay, lad. No friendship could withstand the allure of a Krabby Patty! Now let’s go back to the Krusty Krab, home of the Krabby Patty and have a fresh one on me!

SpongeBob: Aye, aye, Mr. Krabs!

Mr. Krabs: Well, maybe on a discount. (Mr. Krabs flicks Plankton off the wall and onto Bubblebass's jellybeans. Plankton runs around his hand so he doesn't get caught)

Things are going great at the Krusty Krab, until suddenly an alarm begins to blare, signaling an attempt by Plankton to steal a Krabby Patty. Plankton, controlling the patty, escape outside with it by making a hole in the door with a laser.
SpongeBob heroically chases after it. After a long chase, SpongeBob finally recovers the Krabby Patty and is congratulated by the townsfolk, while Plankton walks away sadly. SpongeBob, feeling sorry for Plankton, decides to befriend him.
SpongeBob invites Plankton to go jellyfishing with him, and, realizing he can take advantage of SpongeBob, Plankton goes. At Jellyfish Fields, Plankton remains fixated on evil and destruction, and SpongeBob tries to explain fun to him by singing "The F.U.N. song." Eventually, Plankton starts singing the song as well, first, he sings a corrupted version that displays horrible things but eventually, he sings SpongeBob's version and seems to finally be having fun. He seems to forget about stealing the formula and begins to develop a genuine sense of friendship.
When Mr. Krabs sees this, he refuses to believe that Plankton has changed and sets up a trap for them when they come to the Krusty Krab together the next day. He attempts to tempt Plankton with a Krabby Patty, but he seems not to take the bait. After SpongeBob and Plankton leave to go to the movies, Mr. Krabs begins to suspect that Plankton really has gone straight and nice, until he realizes that he actually did take the patty.
At the Reef Cinema, Mr. Krabs appears in front of the projector and demands everyone in the theater to reach into their friend or partner's
pocket to see what they have got. SpongeBob reaches into Plankton's pocket and finds a Krabby Patty. SpongeBob realizes that Plankton used him to get a Krabby Patty, and Plankton attempts to explain that he realizes now that he only ever wanted friendship, before admitting to everything and running off with the patty through the movie screen, tearing it in half in the process.
SpongeBob believes Plankton won but Mr. Krabs tells him he did not. He shows SpongeBob behind the screen revealing Plankton to be badly squashed on a damaged concrete wall with the Patty. SpongeBob apologizes to Mr. Krabs and they decide to go back to the Krusty Krab and have a fresh Krabby Patty and Mr. Krabs flicks Plankton off the wall and onto Bubble Bass' hand where he mistakes Plankton for a jelly bean. Bubble Bass chases Plankton around his hand with him screaming as the episode ends.
Plankton originally asks, "What happens after we shoot 'em?" then imitates a rifle. Since this was too violent, it was changed to "What happens after we eat 'em?"

There was a deleted scene in which during the F.U.N. song, Plankton says, "What do we do after we shoot 'em?" and is shown imitating a rifle. However, it was deemed too violent for young viewers and was changed to "What happens after we eat 'em?"
The Chum Bucket is across town in this episode. In most episodes, it is across the street from the Krusty Krab.
If one were to listen carefully, the boot squeak sound effect from "Squeaky Boots" can be heard when the policeman puts the "Honorary Rookie" donut on SpongeBob.File:F.U.N. 114.jpg
