The Enigma Shapeshifter is a character who appears in the episode "Patrick's Got a Zoo Loose."
Description[]
The Enigma Shapeshifter as an ice cream cone
It is a purple spider-like alien. It has six legs and hands with a pink tail, five eyes, a mouth, and a beard. In its blue form, it is a squid-like alien with two legs, two hands, a pink tail, five eyes, and a mouth. This creature has the ability to shape-shift into any other object/character. An example of one of the shape-shifts is a ice cream which is when Patrick eats it.
According to Space Rube, the alien comes from the Rings of Saturn Zoo and is the most dangerous creature in the universe. He does not know how to catch it, and only has it because it came with the pet carrier.
Role in episode[]
The Shapeshifter is one of the alien creatures that Space Rube brings with him to show to Patrick. It gets loose from its cage and runs around the house. It transforms into a spider-like being to move around, but also disguises itself as a toaster, GrandPat, and a kitchen table chair. Patrick hunts the alien throughout the house.
The Enigma Shapeshifter eventually corners Patrick by hiding under a tablecloth that he falls on top of. However, Squidina comes in and claims that shapeshifting into a table is too easy, and she bets it cannot turn into other forms she names. The alien continually transforms to prove Squidina wrong. The last form she lists is an ice cream cone, and when the Enigma Shapeshifter turns into one, Patrick regains his energy and swallows it whole.
At the end of the episode, Space Rube, Patrick's guests and audience, and even Patrick himself turn out to be Enigma Shapeshifters, transforming into spider-like beings and crawling away.
