Employee Brotherhood Day is a holiday that Mr. Krabs makes employees of the Krusty Krab celebrate. This holiday was celebrated in the episode "Dying for Pie" and the book Who's Hungry? On this day, hand-made gifts are exchanged among co-workers. The only presents that are permitted to be exchanged are those that are hand-made.
Role in episode
SpongeBob made a sweater for Squidward out of his own eyelashes, and Squidward complains to SpongeBob that it is too itchy. Squidward, annoyed by the itchy gift, throws the sweater at SpongeBob and Squidward realizes Employee Brotherhood Day means a holiday called "Squid's Off By One Day," a day in which strange things happen to him. This causes SpongeBob to cry. Tears leave his eyes profusely, and SpongeBob makes a sweatshirt out of said tears for Squidward. Mr. Krabs orders Squidward to make SpongeBob a gift to cheer him up.
Squidward disobeys Mr. Krabs and buys a pie from a group of sea pirates. The pie is, unbeknownst to Squidward, a bomb. Mr. Krabs tests the pie to see if it tastes good, but he trips whilst getting a glass of milk to complement the pie, and it explodes. The resulting explosion sends Mr. Krabs and Squidward out a newly created hole in the wall. The pie, still intact, is taken by SpongeBob to eat later. Squidward, thinking SpongeBob ate the pie, came to the conclusion that SpongeBob will detonate at sunset, and tries to make the last hours of his life meaningful by doing all his favorite activities with him.
