Hello there, 

I'll cut to the chase: SB Wiki is leaving Wikia. Before you angrily protest, let me explain. The SpongeBob fandom has been declining since around the middle of Season 4. The common consensus is that anything past the movie has been absolutely horrible. However, fans of the show know that Season 8 neared Season 2-quality with episodes like Planet of the Jellyfish, Ghoul Fools, Home Sweet Rubble, The Krabby Patty That Ate Bikini Bottom, Mermaidman Begins, and many others. Season 9 is shaping up to be even better, possibly being another Season 2. 

So, SpongeBob Universe has been formed. What is SpongeBob Universe? An ecosystem of SpongeBob awesomeness, primarily involving The SpongeBob Community and the SpongeBob SquarePants Wiki. We will be moving to a new site. It will be revolutionary... amazing... jawdropping. It will have SpongyNews (the exclusive news site that anyone can edit for SBU), a unified live chat, iSponge (for all your SpongeBob art), the SpongeFan Wiki, and in the future, SpongeStore (for all your SpongeBob merchandise needs). 

It will revolutionize the SpongeBob fandom in ways you didn't think possible. Full episodes of Season 8 and 9 episodes will be offered on the main SBU site. You will need only one account to log into the SpongeBob Community Forums, the SpongeBob Wiki, the SpongeFan Wiki, SpongyNews, and iSponge. It will be seamlessly integrated. Everything will just work. Your editing counts have been transferred. 

When does it launch? New Years. Join us for a countdown party in this chat here on New Year's Eve to countdown to SpongeBob Universe, as well as 2013. If you have any questions, feel free to edit this page in the section below! :) Please do not edit this portion of the page.

From what I seen on the comments section of iDylan's original announcement, iDylan apparently said the SBC Forums will be relocated to a different URL (spongebobuniverse.com/forums instead of sbcforums.com/forums) but will still look exactly the same. Will something similar happen to everything that's on this wiki? GojiBob Talk Contribs

I've only just started with this wiki, but I don't want to see it go. I know my concern isn't the most important thing I could think of, but everyone else has said the rest so will badges still be there? They were really fun... Vulkanus13 22:15, December 29, 2012

-- As an admin of SBC's Wiki(not this wiki), I can say that badges weren't moved from the old SBC Wikia onto our server, so I assume the same would be for this Wiki. ClassicNickelodeon Fan 1

Will the comments on the fanon wiki be transferred too? Also, how am I supposed to post new episodes of Leader Plankton! on there? How will it look? And so many more questions...

Wait...it can't still be a wiki if we are moving from the wiki website. I've seen some websites like Avengers Wiki but are not really a wiki and are instead a website. Will it be like that? Because that's not a wiki. That's a website. What do you mean it'll still be a wiki?

Well, sure it's a informational site about something but that's not a wiki. A wiki has to be part of the wikia community or else it's not a wiki. Really, wikis are part of wiki community and being an independent site resembling a wiki isn't really a wiki. Just saying.

Well, Combine OverWiki (the Half-Life and Portal wiki) moved from Wikia and became an independent site and it's still a wiki. More wikis have also done the same. GojiBob Talk Contribs 19:04, December 30, 2012 (UTC)

Hi Nintengirl. The wiki on SBU should be even better than this one! All you have to do is create an account there and you'll be all set. If you're unhappy with creating an account, you can still view the content on the wiki but you may not be able to edit there I'm afraid. You can sign in anonymously, but I'm not sure if you can edit anonymously. Give it a try and see what happens! You won't know until you try! ;)

Okay, I feel the need to speak up about this. Guys, SBU in whole is a website. However, 1 part of the website(this) is a wiki still. It will still look like a wiki, just with cool new features and a cool new layout. Everything else is the same. You guys are going to love it tonight. :D -- ClassicNickelodeon Fan 1

I have a lot of concerns about this new SpongeBob Universe. First of all, will there ever be a time where going to this website will redirect me to SpongeBob Universe? Cuz the links still go here. I hope not because honestly, I don't really like SpongeBob Universe. All these admins and people are saying that SpongeBob Universe will have a better wiki than this one but in reality it's not true. There's tons of bugs and problems. When I go on episode pages, there's section and I clicked one of them expecting them to bring me to that section of the page like what happens here but instead it brought it a webpage called 404 Unfound or something like that. Secondly, it doesn't have a search box! How am I supposed to find things?

(sniff) I guess this is the last time i will ever have access to Spongebob Wiki. I'm going out for new years eve soon, and i won't be back before midnight. Goodbye, spongebob wiki, you will be forever missed.

FAQ AND A MESSAGE FROM AMK152

Greetings, I can see there is much concern for this transition, I will start out by answering all your questions.

• All we are basically doing is moving and getting a redesign.
• All admins will retain their admin powers once they add their account at SpongeBob Universe.
• The URL for the new Wiki will be announced as soon as the new Wiki is up. Everyone will be able to see where everything went, because each article here will point to its new article on the new Wiki.
• This Wiki will not be deleted so as to let everyone know where our new location is.
• All content will be transferred/moved to the new Wiki. We will not start over, we will just continue where we left off, just like when I moved all content from Wikipedia back in 2007.
• The new site will not support badges, but we may eventually come up with some sort of award system.
• spongefan.wikia.com - the SpongeFan wiki will also be moved to SpongeBob Universe in the same manner.
• People can still be banned, just like here. It's a wiki.
• All the pages on the Wiki will not have comments, they will be linked to discussion on a forum that will be linked with your account. (a universal SpongeBob Universe account)
• The future SpongeBob Universe chat will be developed at a later date. We will use Xat on SBC.
• Edits may not be transferred if all history is not transferred. I hope that we will have a way to transfer all history.
• The new Wiki will be a Wiki, just a much better design and better integration. The Wiki will be part of a website, SpongeBob Universe. We will still be a Wiki, just not on Wikia. We will still use MediaWiki (what Wikia and Wikipedia use)
• You will have to sign up for an account at SpongeBob Universe. Use your Wikia username because your edits will be moved over.
• Sign-up will be easy.
• Again, the SpongeBob SquarePants Wiki will not be gone, will not be deleted. We will simply move and get a redesign.

Hey guys. This is MDPP, the developer from The SpongeBob Community, and also primary developer of The SpongeBob Universe. Looking at these comments, I'm going to answer all your questions in this one post. The new site will be located at spongebobuniverse.com, but as of right now, it's not functioning; however, it will be functioning by New Years. Also, those who are bureaucrats and sysops here will have the same privileges on the new site, but not on the forums. Everyone will have to have a SBC account, as everything on SBU is linked to SBC. Userpages on here won't transfer, but that's because users don't exactly match up after the transfer (you can copy-paste your current userpage from here to the new site). As for comments, there will be comments and a rating system. The comments will be turned into topics on SBC, and the wiki pages will link to them. The rating system will allow you to rate episodes, and we can display the top 10 rated episodes. :] And yes, there will be a code that will be placed here that will automatically redirect you to the new site (and even to the correct page!). As for bans, they will work. Since everything on SBU is linked to SBC, that means if you're banned on SBC, you're banned throughout the entire website. The wiki interface, for those who are wondering, will look rather similar, but it'll look more like a webpage. It'll still be a wiki, however.
