User requesting chat moderator: DanzxvFan8275 Date discussion closed: February 11, 2017 Result of discussion: Unsuccessful.
a. Why do you believe you are qualified to be promoted to this position?
I come in the chat every day and am also really active. I know the rules and whenever I find bad conduct in the chat, I report it. I am pretty friendly in the chat as well.
b. Have you had experience with this position before?
Yes, I have. I am an admin on a couple wikis and a moderator on the Head Soccer Wiki, both of which have the chat moderator rights.
c. What are your best contributions to Encyclopedia SpongeBobia and why?
I think my best contributions are fixing grammar and expanding stubs. Whenever an edit needs to be done, I am there to fix it. I also sometimes add images to infoboxes on pages that need them and work with galleries.
d. How do you plan to use your rights if your request is successful?
I plan to keep my eye out for any bad conduct in the chat. I make sure to come to the chat every day and warn users that are in violation of the rules. If they continue, I’d kick and eventually ban them.
e. Have you been in a situation in which you needed the user rights for this position at that moment but were unable to act?
Many times. Mostly because there is a troll or spammer in the chat and all mods are AFK, and I have to report the case to skype or to other mods that are online.
f. Is there anything else you want to add?
Ever since my last request ended, I made sure to follow the advice of the users that voted neutral or oppose. I have been more active, reported more spamming and trolling, and gave users suggestions on how to behave in the chat. I’m fine with any opposers on this request, as I want everyone to give their honest opinion. I think I am more ready than ever and I will try to be the best chat mod I can be. Extremely Strong Support - Most qualified candidate at the time. You've earned it pal! ChocolateBrownieBoy(M•C•E)
Comment - He vandalised a wiki! That wasn't 'earned' at all! --The gamer 987654321 (talk) 07:56, February 5, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - Wow....and I thought what Squiddle said was offensive. The fact that because I vandalized a few pages on a wiki makes you think that I don´t deserve this right in the slightest is very insulting. This was over 3 months ago, and according to you, I didn´t do ANYTHING to make up for this. I didn´t earn this position, according to you. I refuse to believe that my work here is not appreciative. I´m fine wih you opposing, but don´t offend me. DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 17:31, February 6, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - Your work here is appreciated, although that doesn't automatically give you automatic access to a right. You appear to be underestimating how serious an offence vandalism is. There's no point this argument continuing anyway, as this request'll be unsuccessful. --The gamer 987654321 (talk) 22:31, February 6, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - Unless you can verify that he did vandalise a wiki, by linking the said wiki, then I'm afraid I cannot take your word for it. ― C.Syde(talk | contribs) 11:25, February 5, 2017 (UTC)
Oppose - you were globally blocked for vandalism just a few months ago. the fact that you are not above vandalizing a wiki is going to make it impossible for me to trust you with any rights for a long time. ѕqυι∂∂ℓєωαя∂❮мεssαgε ωαℓℓ ● cσηтяιвυтισηs ● ε∂ιтcσυηт❯22:47, February 4, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - But I've learned from that experience. I've proven that I am higher than that level and that I make good-faith contributions here. I also don't see how that has to do with the chat. Also, that "you are not above vandalizing a wiki" part strongly offended me. The fact that you labeled me as a vandalizer can be really insulting to someone who tries their hardest to be the best user they can be. I am above vandalizing a wiki and like I said earlier, I am offended.DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 23:04, February 4, 2017 (UTC)
Weak Oppose - I mean, squiddle has a really good point, I think as long as you continue to show good faith, you are destined to become something here, but I mean, this is hard.... "For service and devotion"TheOneFootTallBrickWall (talk) 22:56, February 4, 2017 (UTC)
Oppose - Per everything that Squiddleward said. You will have to wait a long time to regain trust from people, as that is an extremely serious offence.--The gamer 987654321 (talk) 07:44, February 5, 2017 (UTC)
Extremely Strong Oppose - Whoops, sorry, but it looks like a quick glance at the opposes has told me all I need to know that I know better than to withstand opposing myself. ― C.Syde(talk | contribs) 11:27, February 5, 2017 (UTC)
Oppose - You have taken the comments to this request and the current result of this request very poorly and you have been blaming a user for it. Also per above. The most expensive boss, Alex.sapre (talk) 23:35, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - Honestly, I understand the globalled part. But the vandal part just goes overboard. That's counting stuff from other wikis, which has literally nothing to do with this. I am a good user and I've never caused this wiki any harm. DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 14:32, February 5, 2017 (UTC)
You're clearly not a good user and a vandal on other wikis, therefore you shouldn't be trusted with a right. Even if you can be trusted with a right on this wiki, you certainly don't deserve it, as you have clearly done it to several wikis if you were to be blocked from wikia, and not just the wiki(s) that you vandalised. --The gamer 987654321 (talk) 14:54, February 5, 2017 (UTC)
I don't vandalize any wiki anymore. I haven't for a long time. I learned my lesson, and I do a lot of good work on other wikis, as well as this one. Also, since this is a Chat Moderator request, I have been in the chat extremely frequently and have reported any bad conduct that happens when I'm online and mods aren't. So I clearly can be trusted with rights. DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 15:00, February 5, 2017 (UTC)
It's been a long time, but the fact is that vandalism is quite serious coming from a user applying for rights, even if it's been a long time since they actually committed the vandalism. Yes the vandalism did happen on another wiki, but it still raises concerns, because if you do those things on another wiki, then other users lose their faith in you, which in turn leads them to question what you would do if granted these rights here. On top of that, the fact that you were globally blocked previously only adds to the list of reasons why myself and others don't think you are suitable for this position just yet. Not sure if this belongs but one of the users I promoted to chat moderator on my wiki was globally blocked in 2015 after they got the rights. The only reason I didn't demote them on the spot was because I couldn't find any evidence as to what they did. But when they were globally blocked a second time, I gave them a warning that if they were globally blocked a third time, then I would demote them. Very soon after the second global block expired, I caught them vandalising the reports page on the VSTF wiki, before blanking the page. I restored the page's content, and then reported that user for the vandalism. A minute later they silently removed my report of them, but I undid their edit as they didn't have the authority to remove the report. When that user was globally blocked a third time, I revoked their chat moderator status. ― C.Syde(talk | contribs) 20:16, February 5, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, because you made a good point and I kind of felt that, too. DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 12:16, February 8, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - Wait just one minute! Philly may have vandalized more than a wiki, and yes, that was wrong of him and he shouldn't have done that, but I, for one, am willing to show forgiveness for what he did. He's a very nice friend in chat and is quite active and is qualified to be a chat moderator, and I'm not ever going to lose my trust in him! ThomasGaming64 Wall Contribs
Comment - You're endorsing vandalism, basically the most serious offence on Fandom. You are clearly just biased because you are "friends", while completely overlooking the fact that he vandalised several wikis, and clearly cannot be trusted! I know it's rich coming from me, but at least I'm not a vandal! --The gamer 987654321 (M.W.B.C.) 22:29, February 10, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - How is that endorsing vandalism? He was showing forgiveness! He also said vandalism is bad, which also proves that he isn't endorsing it. DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 22:38, February 10, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - @ Phillydan25 - I am impressed that you've regretted vandalising, but it's still not enough to change my thoughts on this. You may be sorry for doing it, and it may have happened a while ago now, but that doesn't change the fact that it happened, and I still don't feel that enough time has passed for me to safely ignore what has happened before. ― C.Syde(talk | contribs) 01:06, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - Honestly, this would've been ignored for a while if Squiddleward didn't bring it up. DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 01:10, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - You may be right there. But it wouldn't be the first time something like this was brought up. I can remember some issues being brought up in my second RfA on the Sims wiki, which I thought were irrelevant as it was old news, and I had learned from those mistakes, but I didn't complain about them all the same since I knew that trying to refute those concerns might just have made things worse. ― C.Syde(talk | contribs) 01:13, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - You do have a point. However, the reason I'm trying to refute this concern is because I think it's a really stupid reason for me to not become a chat moderator. I deserve to be one, yet this request will still be unsuccessful because of something that shouldn't be a big deal anymore. But okay, if I have to wait more time to request, then fine. DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 14:11, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - I fully doubt that I can put my finger on it before this nomination is closed, but I think you're probably right unless further evidence turns up that suggests otherwise. ― C.Syde(talk | contribs) 21:00, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - The fact that people don't want you to become a chat moderator for that reason means that it should not be successful for that reason. Anyway, I'll see you when you re-request next week. --The gamer 987654321 (M.W.B.C.) 21:08, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
Comment - After this request, do you think that this will happen again next week? No. I'm not requesting again until late March. DanzxvFan8275 (M•C•U•E) 21:11, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
