Problem

Many pages that are supposed to be being merged under the new requests for merge system are simply being deleted without the information being moved onto the page it should have been merged to. One example is the recent deletion of the Krabs Coins page. Looking back in the history of that page and Money Krabs, the page it was supposed to be merged to, no information has been added. Another example is the merge of magic Conch Club to Magic Conch shell. No information from the former was merged into the latter, as the edit histories show. This may not seem like a huge problem considering that one can look back in the edit histories, however it should be up to the closing administrator to do this, not just any user who happens to look in the requests for merge archive. Requests for merge should not simply be a way to delete pages "through the back door" in order to bypass the deletion request limit. Another similar problem is the fact that some pages appear to be being completely deleted, without leaving a redirect behind, meaning that normal users cannot copy the former content over to the new page anyway, only making this problem a significantly bigger deal. Administrator response

Hi, thanks for bringing this up. Going forward we will continue to keep this in mind. There are situations in articles, however, where merging may not be needed as one article already contains what the other contained. When especially important articles are merged I know ensuring content transfer is very important. --Spongebob456 talk 09:14, May 18, 2020 (UTC)

Conclusion

This is something we will continue to keep in mind and merges that require content transfer for the benefit of the new article will have appropriate content transferred. --Spongebob456 talk 09:16, May 18, 2020 (UTC)
