The Wikia spotlight is a feature that can get Encyclopedia SpongeBobia featured across Wikia. You can read more about the Wikia Spotlight: here. I believe that it is time that we make the request.
The Wikia spotlight has a list of "best practices" to follow in order for a wiki to qualify to be in the spotlight. I believe we have met those requirements:
1. The requester should be either an active admin, or link to a discussion with an active admin of the wikia who agrees to the spotlight.
Good - I will make the request once passed and then link to this discussion.
2a. The wikia should have at least 200 content pages, not counting stubs.
Good - We have over 6,000 content and over 4,000 of them are not stubs (less than 300 bytes)
2b. Stub, or very short articles (less than about 300 bytes; listed at Special:Shortpages) and articles marked with a stub template should make up no more than a fifth [20%] of all pages.
Good - Stubs make up 18% of of the wiki, but we have been working to reduce that number.
3a. The main page should have at least one picture, and clear links to the most important content.
Good - The main page has been always customized for years.
3b. It should not be sysop-protected from editing unless there is a strong history of vandalism; protecting against anonymous editors and new accounts is ok.
Good - The main page has not been protected for a month, and we have a great team of admins to make sure the page isn't vandalized.
4. There should be a clear category structure to help readers navigate around the site. Every content page should be in a category (Special:UncategorizedPages should be empty).
Good - Contributors are very good about making sure everything is categorized.
5a. The community should not be in the middle of choosing new admins
Good - We do not have any admin requests currently. Even if we did, our administration has always remained stable and I believe what they mean by "choosing new admins" means a restructuring of the administration. New promotions to the administration are always very smooth because we make sure the contributor is well qualified.
5b. or any other upheavals; it should be a stable, friendly place.
Good - We had a few issues that built up from December 2013 to early May 2014, but now the dust has settled and we have come out stronger, friendlier, and more stable than ever. The crisis that we had shows just how stable we are, even in a crisis. All involved in the crisis are getting along.
6. The wikia should be using the Wikia welcome tool, signed by admins
Good - Check
7. The message in the Community Center on Recent Wiki Activity should be customized.
Good - Check
8. The wikia should have a customized skin.
Good - Check
9. The wikia should not use offensive language or include inappropriate images.
Good - Profanity and inappropriate images are against our rules. We have a great team of administrators to enforce these rules.
If you believe we are ready for the spotlight, please support this. If not, either oppose or neutral, and state what we could do to improve. This discussion ends on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 3 PM eastern time. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 18:49, May 26, 2014 (UTC)
