Introduction
Hi all.
Recently, we've had a lot of users claim they are going to retire from the wiki, then return the next day. I won't name any of these users, but you're aware of who I mean. A couple of them have been Admins, a couple Chat Mods. This creates further drama for the wiki as they receive all of this attention on their retirement blog, and then they return the next day.
Now, this hasn't been a problem as of yet but I propose the following:
Proposal
All Admins and Chat Mods who say they're going to retire have their rights removed immediately (or pending reasoning/discussion). They must reapply for the rights if they want to resume their position once/if they return. This may sound harsh, but it creates decreased stability on the wiki if high profile users (admins/chat mods) are saying they're going to retire then return wanting their rights back.
Just to note, this won't be an issue for users who're just taking a break - we've all done that including myself. This is strictly for users who are considering a more permanent break from the wiki. Thanks! --Spongebob456 talk 16:09, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

Very Strong Support - Yes. This can resolve people complaining "there's too many admins!" (nasal sound) It shall work fine. Tan Ham Man 20:31,8/11/2014
Support - I agree with it completely. If they publically announce that they are going to retirement, they don't need rights anymore. Regreting the decision next day is their problem, but they can always reapply. AW10 Talk Contribs E-Mail 23:07,8/11/2014

A side note, this proposal would change the following in the administration policies. Bold is policy additions. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 16:32, August 11, 2014 (UTC)
- H. Returning administrators
- 1. If a former administrator wishes to return, they must request to be an administrator once again.
- 2. If a user retires, resigns, or quits, they
have up to one (1) week from the date and time of their announcement revoke their resignation or quitting. After that seven (7) day period, if they wish to return to the administration, they must make another administration request.cannot recieve their rights back immediately. They must make the appropriate request for whatever position.
- I. Announcements of retirement/resignation
- 1. All Admins and Chat Mods who say they're going to retire have their rights removed immediately (or pending reasoning/discussion). They must reapply for the rights if they want to resume their position once/if they return.
- Oh goodness, I missed that. Yeah... that may change that. I just felt it'd be appropriate for users to reapply. --Spongebob456 talk 16:37, August 11, 2014 (UTC)

- The adminstrators, although we currently have a discussion going to change this. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 16:50, August 11, 2014 (UTC)
