*{{Support}} Normally I'd be neutral, but the fact that Madridista10 is purposefully hindering the votes means that this issue really should come to an end. It'll also make the music sections less cluttered. [[User:Plant Protecter|Plant Protecter]] 12:27, June 5, 2020 (EST)

Proposal

RomNick1998 is proposing the following:

This is addressed to people who are fans of the show's music tracks, but can be addressed to ones who just want to have fun.

During four months, several users, including me, have been engaged in edit wars with a user named Madridista10. It's happening because people don't agree with this user's tactic of using super-long descriptions of music tracks in breakdowns on episode pages.

As an example, I'll put down parts of a list of "Plankton's Old Chum" tracks. The user's descriptions are listed below.

‣ Rotten chum scattered all over the Chum Bucket
‣ Karen orders Plankton to get rid of the rotten chum
‣ Plankton is stunned after rotten chum burps at him
‣ Plankton goes outside the Chum Bucket carrying a tank full of rotten chum
‣ Plankton reads a sign that forbids dumping chum
‣ Plankton dumps rotten chum in the sewer

‣ Sparkles come out from the well and gets empty of chum
‣ Plankton arrives outside the snail park with the chum tank
‣ Flakes of rotten chum fall from the sky covering Bikini Bottom
‣ Mother forbids her baby from eating the rotten chum
‣ Citizens complaining about the rotten chum

As people can see, there is way too much mention of the words "rotten chum" in descriptions, and "chum tank" is mentioned later in another. In-context, it could be very repetitive. Plus, there are way too much sentences in quotations like "Tell me more about Chum Day. What's it like, what do you do?". I think one could be enough.

The now-defunct blog of Allen Jankowics, regardless of what you say of it, was short in its track descriptions: they were usually simple, but to the point (see "SpongeBob's Bad Habit" one for comparison). Plus, they relied on episode's context and didn't repeat the facts already mentioned in music lists like here.

Also, there is a tendency to write sentences using slash whenever a track stops in-episode, like with "Funeral March" in "Broken Alarm": "Customers crying/Customers continue crying". This is really strange, because on APM site, tracks like this never stop, and if they do, it is intended. This, however, could be applied to tracks that are consisting of several sections in a single audio, like "Punctuations" by Ralph Dollimore.

Therefore, I am proposing to make the track descriptions as short as they were on Allen's blog (but allow to use slash on tracks with several sections), with sentences never having two parts and details people already know. This doesn't relate to descriptions on pages like "List of associated production music/a" because they are taken out of episodes' context and could be written however people would like.

Thanks for reading and explain why you agree or disagree below. I am trying to make a proposal for the first time, so the general overlook of it could look a little shabby. RomNick1998 (talk) 18:11, May 24, 2020 (UTC)

  • Support Support - This issue could have been resolved months ago if the admins just permanently blocked Madistra. That user has been edit-warring on APM for many years and was given more chances than they deserved.  EmilyHReturns (MCBE)  03:24, June 4, 2020 (UTC)
  • Oppose Oppose - Per my concern. I know this will stop edit-warring, but there are other methods without putting an unneeded limitation that'll just make things worse.  MagicSponge123 (WCLE)  09:51, June 4, 2020 (UTC)

  • Oppose Oppose - Short descriptions would've been useful for the old music blogspot; but this is not a music blogspot, so the rules mustn't be followed in the same way that they were used in the blogspot. Madridista10
