Proposal

BSpongeSM02 is proposing the following:

So, I noticed several aspects of the episode article guidelines are inconsistent with how said articles are structured nowadays. Therefore, I have made this proposal to update this section of the policy, in terms of wording and consistency towards the modern standards of episode articles. Here are the changes I am proposing:

General

This outlines the general guidelines for episode articles.

  • A. Table of contents - there will be no a table of contents.
  • B. Head - the head of the article is generated from the infobox template.

Given that episode articles do make use of the table of contents now.

Infobox

The infobox for episode articles is a template located at the top of the page, including key information about the episode.

Contents of the infobox
  • Title of the episode
  • An image of the title card (without any logos or extra black/white space)
  • The season #
  • The episode #
  • The original U.S. air date. All other air dates will go in the "Release" section (see below)and international premieres.
  • The sister episode(s)
  • All credits that appear in the opening credits will be listed; the other credits will be listed on their own sub page.

The infoboxes do not have just the U.S. airdate, all the others are listed there too.

Section 2b: Music

This subsection will list the music in the episode. It will have maximally three two parts.

Featured music

If any significantly important music plays in the episode, it will have a paragraph explaining it.

This section doesn't seem needed as there aren't really explanations done for the use of any music tracks in question.

Section 2c: Release

This subsection will cover the release of the episode, pre-release and post-release. This includes the advertising and marketing of the episode, the air dates (domestic and international), and DVD and digital releases and number of viewers.

The airdates are already mentioned in the infobox, as is the number of viewers on premiere. There's also an update to the wording here, in terms of the split between DVDs and digital collections.

{{Episode
|title = <!-- Name of Episode -->
|titlecard = <!-- Title Card -->
|seasonnumber = <!-- Season number (numeral) -->
|episodenumber = <!-- Episode number -->
|airdate = [[DATE]], [[YEAR]]
|sisterep = <!-- Episodes this one is tied with -->
|BDE Rank = <!-- Best Day Ever rank -->
|SB Rank = <!-- SpongeBash rank -->
|guests = <!-- Guests (if any) -->
|writer =
|storyboard artist =
|supervising producer =
|director =
|director-storyboard =
|director-animation =
|director-creative =
|director-technical =
|briefsummary = <!-- summarize the episode in one sentence -->
}}

The "BDE Rank" and "SB Rank" fields would be removed from the template preview as shown on this page since those are listed in the "Release" section of the articles per today's guidelines.

|airdate = {{Time|DATE}}, {{Time|YEAR}} <!-- English-speaking countries (the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom/Ireland, Australia/New Zealand) --> {{SeeMore}} {{Time|DATE}}, {{Time|YEAR}} <!-- Non English-speaking countries --> {{SeeMoreEnd}}

An update to the airdate field in the template example to follow the manual of style for dates, as well as clarity on the structure of this field regarding how English-speaking countries and other countries are listed differently.

==Notes==
</references>
<!--Notes are listed here; Use <ref>NOTE</ref> after the place you are noting.-->

==External Links==
<!--Put links to where this episode can be watched online here-->

The "Notes" heading would be replaced with "References" and the "External Links" heading would be replaced with "External links" for consistency with what's been listed above. Also, </references would be replaced with {{Reflist}} on this preview to follow manual of style guidelines.

Feel free to leave a concern if there is an error somewhere or if there is something I missed.  BSpongeSM02 (WCELA)   02:00, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
