If you have been blocked, you have options. You don't HAVE to sit out the block. You can request an unblock. But you know it isn't as simple as just asking. There is quite a bit you have to do in order to be unblocked. This here will tell you how you can be unblocked.
Reasons behind blocks
We here at the Encyclopedia SpongeBobia have a "One Strike, you're out" policy. Meaning that you commit an offense ONCE and you're out. Some people do get away with more than one offense with a warning. But those are users who quite clearly make mistakes. Our most common reasons for blocking people can be found here in a section called "To Block or Not to Block?" As a wiki we have adopted several of Wikipedia's policies, which can be found here.
How to get unblocked
One way to not get unblocked is to cuss like there is no tomorrow. But the right way to get unblocked is to acknowledge what you did wrong and make a promise to not do it again in two paragraphs, no less and no more. Now this doesn't always secure you an unblock. Some times this will get you a block shorting or even a block lengthening.
How to know what I did
We admins HAVE to tell you what you did. If we do not tell you when telling you have been blocked just place the {{whyblocked}} on your message wall with an optional additional message and an admin will respond and see why you were blocked and tell you. From there you just do your thing.
The admin didn't unblock me
Well, there is a good reason behind why he/she didn't unblock you. However if you feel that you were wrongly ignored then you can place down {{IWUBR}} on your talk page with a reason why you think you were and an admin will respond and they will make a judgment before letting you know the reason behind not being unblocked in a clearer fashion, or unblock you, and start the proceedings to punish said admin.
To administrators
At all times you MUST oblige to the user's request with an answer. Whether you are extending, shortening, or unblocking. You MUST always leave a reason behind your actions in a summary depending on your actions. So if you unblock, say why, if you don't unblock and shorten, say why, if you lengthen the block, say why, and finally on the message wall of the user, remember to say why you didn't unblock in at least on paragraph with an unbiased and professional tone and remember to remove the templates from the message wall regardless of the action.
