Introduction
The ESB:Discussions/Character infobox fields discussion ended without a clear consensus and it was needed that we split the discussions into different topics regarding the character infobox. This discussion concerns the addition of show/hide for each major section of the character infobox:
- Under the following, major sections refers to the headers about the fields, which are currently: General, Physical appearance, Family, Connections, and Series information.
- Option A - include a show/hide button for each major section of the character infobox AND set "hide" as the default. When someone first looks at the article, all the sections on the infobox are collapsed and they can click "show" to reveal the contents.
- Option B - include a show/hide button for each major section of the character infobox AND set "show" as the default. When someone first looks at the article, all the sections on the infobox are open, and they can click "hide" to hide the contents.
- Option C - do not add a show/hide button for each major section of the character infobox.
This discussion will end on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:30 a.m., eastern time. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 15:30, July 14, 2014 (UTC)
Discussion
Option A
- Option A - include a show/hide button for each major section of the character infobox AND set "hide" as the default. When someone first looks at the article, all the sections on the infobox are collapsed and they can click "show" to reveal the contents.
- Strong Support - The infoboxes will be shorter by default and reader then would the option to pick and choose what section of the infobox he of she would like to read.

- Support - Would make things look a lot neater! Very benificial for smartphone and iPad users. Auron May the odds be ever in your favor! 02:38,8/23/2015
- Support - per above. --Spongebob456 talk 18:25, July 14, 2014 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose - setting hide to default would make the default box look odd and require users to select the show button to see the information. Also, readers unfamiliar with show/hide might not understand that information is hidden. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 01:27, July 15, 2014 (UTC)

Option B
- Option B - include a show/hide button for each major section of the character infobox AND set "show" as the default. When someone first looks at the article, all the sections on the infobox are open, and they can click "hide" to hide the contents.
- Weak Support - I prefer having the button automatically set to "hide." Nicko756 (M•C•E) Sign! 16:02, July 14, 2014 (UTC)

- Neutral leaning Oppose - Would kind of defeat the purpose. Auron May the odds be ever in your favor! 02:38,8/23/2015
- Oppose - per above. --Spongebob456 talk 18:25, July 14, 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose - it is better to have them show by default (especially for readers who are unfamiliar with the template), but then again, this option would defeat the whole purpose. I don't think the show/hide should be added. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 01:29, July 15, 2014 (UTC)
Option C
- Option C - do not add a show/hide button for each major section of the character infobox.

- Extremely Strong Oppose - Some of the family sections can get quite long. It would be much neater and be more Smartphone/Tablet friendly if they were hidden. Auron May the odds be ever in your favor! 02:38,8/23/2015
- Neutral - I don't mind it as it is now. --Spongebob456 talk 18:25, July 14, 2014 (UTC)
- Strong Support - adding show/hide would complicate things. — AMK152 (Wall • Contrib) 01:28, July 15, 2014 (UTC)
