Now as was rightly pointed out to me, new policies should be added via proposal which is what I'm doing here.
As I said during the forum conversation, I had a really good chat with three or four users on Discord earlier this week and we made some decent progress. With that and the forum conversation, we noticed there does seem to be a divide at the moment between users, with some wanting some changes to game structure and some wanting others.
From the conversation, we established that actually most of the games would work on Discussions while H&Hs could stay on the forums. To be clear, I and the ESB crew value games as they are a big part of our community. Lots of users enjoy them and I don't want that taken away at all.
Repeating what I said in the conversation: regarding our rationale for wanting to address games, it is about the amount of flood on Recent Changes that results from them that makes patrolling edits difficult.
So the step of moving some games to Discussions is a compromise. While some games we agreed weren't needed during the conversation, very popular SpongeBob-themed games would still function on Discussions. We'd get the best of both worlds, helping users from all sides of the debate.
Now for this proposal, we've decided to choose two policy options that were suggested in the conversation. For this concerns stage, if you could look over these two options that would be great. A voting stage on the two options will follow.
Article #. Games
A. The following games are not allowed in any form, whether it is forums or discussions. All such games will be immediately removed.
1. Games requiring the involvement of a certain user.
2. Games involving counting to a particular number, whether or not there is an interruption that would reset the counter.
3. Games that follow the format "Post X before someone posts Y."
4. Games relating to a function of running the wiki, which includes, but is not limited to banning users.
B. The following games are allowed on Discussions, but not the Forum.
1. True or False
2. Never Ending Story
3. Describe the Picture Above You, but images must be related to SpongeBob SquarePants.
Why should the games revolving around banning users not be allowed on ESB? It's been up and running for years and there's been very little drama/no drama because of it. I don't think any user's gotten the wrong idea and thought they were actually banned, and if they did it's easy to clear up. The most expensive boss, Alex.sapre (talk) 20:49, March 20, 2019 (UTC)
