Dr. Plankenstein is the master and creator of SpongeMonster. He first appears in the episode "Stair Wars" and is a recurring character in The Patrick Star Show.
Description[]
He resembles Sheldon J. Plankton, except he has hair sticking out the sides of his head. He has one eye with a large eyebrow. He wears a collared undershirt and tie with an overcoat.
He resembles Sheldon J. Plankton. He has an ex-wife who resembles Karen Plankton, as shown in "Terror at 20,000 Leagues." He lives in a Gothic castle that is always seen in black-and-white.
Dr. Plankenstein hates the Patrick Show! and tries to prevent Pat-gor from watching it. Much like Plankton, he is shown to be an inventor whose primary interest is using science for evil.
Role in series[]
"Stair Wars"[]
He suddenly gets bored of watching The Patrick Show! and wants to watch wrestling instead, so he argues with Pat-gor over what to watch. Eventually, SpongeMonster fixes this problem by breaking the TV in half with his brain for the two to watch their respective shows. However, Plankenstein and Pat-gor get electrified as SpongeMonster turns The Patrick Show! back on.
"Pat-a-thon"[]
He and Pat-gor are watching the Patrick Show! when the latter wants to donate to Patrick's telethon. Pat-gor cannot because Plankenstein does not pay him. Considering the evil uses for teaching snails to dance, he decides to hook up his old phone, using SpongeMonster, some Whirly Brains, and electricity to power it back on. When he picks up the receiver, he only gets an ad for a timeshare, and remembers why he disabled it. He then chases SpongeMonster and Pat-gor around with a chainsaw.
"Ghost"[]
He is seen repairing the coffeemaker, which later results in coffee squirting on him. He sees a ghost (which is SpongeMonster) thinking it is SpongeMonster when the latter is in front of him. Plankenstein and SpongeMonster both run away due to getting scared by the ghost, unaware it was Pat-gor in disguise.
"Pumpkin Carving"[]
He is mistaken as a candle by Pat-gor after the latter mistakes him for a candle due to eating all the candles SpongeMonster needed for a jack-o-lantern. After he is set up in a machine by Pat-gor, he gets electrocuted and flung into the jack-o-lantern, lighting it up.
"Terror at 20,000 Leagues"[]
Dr. Plankenstein reveals that he hates Halloween because the villagers steal his candy, destroy his lab, and enter the castle without permission. He prevents his crew from watching the Patrick Show!, switching to horror movies to prepare them. When trick-or-treaters show up, Plankenstein orders SpongeMonster outside to scare them. SpongeMonster finds them too scary, and retreats back into the castle to watch more TV.
After the TV commercials, Pat-gor redecorates Plankenstein's hair, which he dislikes because it reminds him of his ex-wife. Patrick and Squidina show up to his house for trick-or-treating, but he slams the door on them and dumps oatmeal on them from atop the castle. Patrick and Squidina then disguise themselves as a meter reader, so Plankenstein lets them in to check on SpongeMonster. Patrick and Squidina look for candy, and Patrick accidentally eats Plankenstien. They scream and SpongeMonster catches them, then throws them out. Patrick again tries to get into the castle by appearing on Plankenstein's TV, but the latter changes the channel and gets rid of Patrick.
At the end of the episode, Plankenstein realizes that he and his crew have successfully made it through Halloween. However, a commercial for Christmas trees suddenly comes on, and they are visited by carolers. Preparing for Christmas next, Plankenstein orders Pat-gor to prepare oatmeal to dump on the carolers.
"Mid-Season Finale"[]
He appears alongside SpongeMonster. SpongeMonster tells a setup to the joke "What did the electric general say to his battery army?" and Dr. Plankenstein delivers the punchline "Charge!", electrocuting them both as they laugh.
"The Starry Awards"[]
Dr. Plankenstein is nominated for Patrick's award for Best Cutaway Segment. Plankenstein initially shows no interest in the ceremony until he realizes that he has won the award. To get onto the show, he uses an invention to turn his crew 2D, smashing him and his minions into crude papery forms. Plankenstein yells at Patrick to wake him up, and when Patgor tries to take the award first, Plankenstein fights him for it. Patrick crumples the three of them and throws them into the trophy.
"10 & 1 Toilets"[]
He appears having built a plunger monster to solve his plumbing problems. When Tinkle's puppies invade, he sends the plunger after them.
"Face/Off-Model"[]
He captures the Easter Bunny in his castle, intending to dissect him to figure out how he lays multicolored eggs. Patrick arrives and throws him into the door, flattening him. The Easer Bunny then shoots a bunch of eggs at Dr. Plankenstein from his butt, making him run away.
