Dorsal Dan is a character who first appears in the episode "The Getaway."
Description[]
Dorsal Dan is a light orange fish with periwinkle eyes, red-orange fins and lips, and buck teeth that come out of his mouth. He has a zig-zag shaped mustache and wears a blackish gray turtleneck jumper with black pants. He has eyebrows that hover over his eyes.

"The Getaway"[]
When he first appears, he tells Mrs. Puff that SpongeBob and Sticky Fins Whiting have escaped. Mrs. Puff feels some attraction to him, and even more later.
Later, when Dorsal Dan and Mrs. Puff find Sticky Fins and SpongeBob, Dorsal along with Sticky Fins are found by the police and are both sent to a solitary cell.
"The Krusty Slammer"[]
He makes a cameo in the Krusty Slammer.
"Potato Puff"[]
Dan is one of the prisoners clinging to SpongeBob's boatmobile after he drives through the Bikini Bottom Jail.

He breaks into Patrick's house and tries to rob his money from his wallet until both degrade due to being made of sand. Patrick "sleep-punches" Dorsal and he gets caught into a mess causing him to accidentally cosplay as the Tooth Fairy.

Find a Missing Star[]
He, Sticky Fins Whiting, and the Tattletale Strangler are hired by Karen to bury a bomb near the Krusty Krab as part of an elaborate plot to blow it up as a gift for Plankton, and kidnap Patrick due to witnessing their bomb planting. SpongeBob and Squidward discover the criminals' hideout upon Mount Climb-Up-And-Fall-Off and are quickly captured.
After realizing that the bomb will blow up the people attending the mayor's party, Karen commands Dan and the others to defuse it but they refuse, with him stating that it'd be dangerous to try it. Soon after, Dan and the other criminals leave their cave hideout and are blown up by the bomb flung by Plankton's invention.
Trivia[]
- "Potato Puff" and "Ain't That the Tooth" are the only instances where Dorsal Dan appears without Sticky Fins Whiting.
