A donut is a type of food known to be sold by Flipper's Donuts and Donuts. It first appears in the episode "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy" and has its first major role in "The Donut of Shame."

Description[]

"Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy"[]

There are three donuts: a strawberry-flavored donut, a glazed donut, and a chocolate-flavored donut.

"The Donut of Shame"[]

It looks like a regular donut with chocolate and pink sprinkles.

"Ghoul Fools"[]

Main article: Donut demon
The donut demon is a plain donut that can talk and has eyes, a mouth which has white pointed teeth, and hands. He can change into any other donut as requested by Patrick.

Role in series[]

"Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy"[]

SpongeBob and Patrick pretend that donuts are rings that Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy use while annoying Squidward in the process. Later, they are mentioned when Mermaid Man mistakes his and Barnacle Boy's real super rings for the said food.

"F.U.N."[]

The citizens praise SpongeBob by wrapping him in a donut costume and singing "For He's a Jolly Good Rookie" to him.

"Rock-a-Bye Bivalve"[]

When Junior starts crying all of a sudden, SpongeBob and Patrick offer him various foods to calm him down, one of which Patrick offers is a chocolate donut. He offers it to him twice during the process and Junior blows a raspberry at Patrick the second time.

Later in the episode, while visiting him at "work," SpongeBob dumps the contents of Patrick's briefcase on top of Patrick, which includes a bunch of donuts.

Sandy defeats The Tickler by stuffing jelly-filled donuts into his mouth.

"The Donut of Shame"[]

Patrick is trying to find a way to hide the donut he took from SpongeBob and is also struggling not to eat it. Soon after, he hears the phone ringing, revealing it to be SpongeBob. He then goes to his house to play the tape from a party from the day before.

SpongeBob appears suddenly, and in a quick attempt, Patrick hides the donut from him, but SpongeBob is not angry he took it and says he has to see the tape. Then, SpongeBob plays the tape of the party, and Patrick learns that the donut was his all along since the party held the night before was his birthday.

Patrick then decides to split the donut in half and shares it with SpongeBob. However, by that time, the donut had spoiled. Patrick didn't seem to mind, but SpongeBob was nauseated by it.

"Ghoul Fools"[]

The donut demon is shown when Lord Poltergeist puts Mr. Krabs, Patrick, and Squidward into a void. The donut attempts to annoy, torment, and aggravate Patrick by sticking to his head. Every time Patrick tries to reach the donut, his head extends, making it impossible for Patrick to reach it. The donut soon becomes annoyed when Patrick keeps changing its form.

Later in the episode, the donut is shown to be working at the Krusty Krab, only to have a fish bite off a part of him.

"Patrick-Man!"[]

Patrick, as his superhero alter-ego, is shown next to a donut store, eating a donut from a dumpster.

"The Executive Treatment"[]

After Squidward tells Patrick that he is not eligible to buy an Executive Treatment, Patrick cries that there is nothing more he has wanted in his whole life since the donut he ate earlier that day and that said donut is gone. Squidward then tells him that half of the donut is still on his face. Upon realizing this, Patrick licks it off.

"Call the Cops"[]

While in the Bikini Bottom Police Department, Mr. Krabs finds a door labeled "DONUTS." He opens it and gets blown away by a wave of donuts, which push him to the evidence room.

It is in one of SpongeBob's happiest memories.
