Cetaphobia is the fear of whales, such as Pearl Krabs. Plankton has cetaphobia, and addresses it in multiple episodes. It is understandable why Plankton has cetophobia, since in real life, many types of cetaceans eat plankton.
Role in series[]
"One Coarse Meal"[]
Mr. Krabs finds out about Plankton's cetaphobia and uses it to traumatize him, first by making Pearl break into the Chum Bucket to scare Plankton, and Plankton has nightmares because of his cetaphobia. When Pearl realizes what Mr. Krabs is doing, Mr. Krabs disguises himself as Pearl and nearly drives Plankton to suicide.
"Patnocchio"[]
Plankton and Patrick get eaten by Pearl, and Plankton addresses his phobia and tries to stay calm, and quickly but calmly tries to get out of Pearl's mouth.
"The Ghost of Plankton"[]
The Flying Dutchman transforms into Pearl to scare Plankton.
"Plankton's Intern"[]
Plankton is terrified of Pearl when she first shows up at the Chum Bucket, but he calms down after realizing that Pearl simply wants an internship and does not want to harm Plankton.

Trivia[]
- Plankton is not the only character with cetaphobia, as his grandfather also has cetaphobia.
- Plankton does not show any sign of cetaphobia in "Sleepy Time," "The Algae's Always Greener," "Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture," and "Tentacle-Vision" where he's around Pearl, or in "Jailbreak!," where he's around a whale cellmate.
