The band members all wear the same blue v-neck uniform. The blue fish has short blond hair, the light orange fish has brown hair, and the green fish has red hair. In "Mall Girl Pearl," the light pink fish has brown hair and the lime green fish has blond hair.

"Whale of a Birthday"[]
Boys Who Cry is first mentioned by Pearl when she requests them to sing at her birthday party. She was previously shown having a dream about them in which she attended their concert at the beginning. They show up out of a gift box after SpongeBob opens up with all her gifts. They charge $1,000,000 just to show up at any place to sing there.
"Mall Girl Pearl"[]
The light pink fish and the lime green fish appear in the magazine Coral Cuties, which Pearl is reading. Their pictures have Pearl's large kiss marks on them, once again displaying her love for the band.
"Whale Watching"[]
They appear in a poster hung on Pearl's bedroom wall.

One member of the Boys Who Cry is seen backstage, waiting to perform in the talent show.
