Later, when SpongeBob wants to stop Squidward being catapulted off the ship, Gordon orders him to grab an ax and fight him. He is unable to lift the ax.

When Mrs. Puff is looking at SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs and Plankton after the latter two were fighting, one of the weapons on the ground surrounding the three is an ax.

  • In the original plot of "Have You Seen This Snail?," Granny was going to wield an ax, before it was replaced by a tray of cookies.[1]
  • In "SpongeBob You're Fired," Mr. Krabs handing SpongeBob the ax after he gets fired is a literal take on "giving him the ax," meaning he is fired.
  • According to Charlton Hawkfish, the Krusty Krab Stadium has a holiday called "Free Ax Day," where axes are presumably given away for free.
