  2011 (MMXI) was a common year starting on Saturday of the Gregorian calendar.

This year saw the conclusion of the seventh season and the beginning of the eighth season. "Sponge-Cano!," "The Main Drain," "The Monster Who Came to Bikini Bottom," and "Welcome to the Bikini Bottom Triangle" premiered for the Legends of Bikini Bottom miniseries on January 28, 2011. The other two episodes from the miniseries premiered later. "Trenchbillies" premiered on January 29, and "The Curse of the Hex" premiered on June 11.

With 38 new episodes, this year is currently tied with 2017 for the second highest number of new episodes in a single year. 2007 currently holds that record, since 47 episodes premiered that year.
