This may cause some spoilers if haven't seen the episode. Anyways,that scene when Mr. Krabs cut off SpongeBob's leg and then the legs grew back. Looks like SpongeBob's leg was a darker yellow for that scene.

Like, why would they judge SpongeBob's maturity based on the length of his pants? There are plenty of adults in Bikini Bottom in shorts. Heck, Squidward doesn't even WEAR pants!
