There was also supposed to be a scene where they saw Sandy as a live-action squirrel on the surface, but that was cut and turned into The Rodent in Sponge Out of Water. It was cut because Patrick threw up when he saw Sandy.

It feels weird knowing that we almost had a canonical real-life SpongeBob and Patrick.

We also almost got one in a cancelled version of Sponge On The Run.
