With the enormous milestone of SpongeBob SquarePants reaching its 25th anniversary, one of this wiki's famous events is returning this year! SpongeCup EpisodePants, originally held in 2019 for the series' 20th anniversary, is a tournament featuring community members' votes to decide what is considered the best SpongeBob episode. For reference, how the 2019 tournament worked can be seen here.
This year's tournament will feature some notable differences from the 2019 tournament, but many things will remain similar. Full details on this year's tournament can be seen below. The tournament will start on May 1, the 25th anniversary of "Help Wanted"'s premiere, and it will run until July 17, which will mark 25 years since season 1's official premiere.
First off though, there will be 2 qualifier rounds to decide the final 32 episodes that will feature in this year's tournament, with the other 32 returning from the 2019 group stage. Voting for the 2 qualifier rounds will open today at 16:00 UTC (approximately 2 hours from now). The voting will last for one week.
