I've been thinking about doing a "character appreciation" post for a little while, so I decided to do one.
I personally think Señor Taco is an underappreciated character and deserves a bit more appreciation. Why? Well, I'll share my thoughts below.
We first see him in "SpongeBob You're Fired," after SpongeBob got fired from two previous restaurants (not counting The Krusty Krab). Señor Taco hired SpongeBob at his restaurant (although he later fires him as well, but I'll get to that later in this post), and SpongeBob then starts to work in the kitchen and makes a "burrito patty."
However, unlike the owners/bosses of the previous two restaurants, Señor Taco was actually willing to give SpongeBob's creation (in this case, the burrito patty) a fair chance, and didn't knock it before he tried it like the other restaurant owners/bosses did, which I think says a lot.
He lets one of the customers try the burrito patty, but it ends up getting on the others' faces, as seen below:
Afterwards, Señor Taco fires SpongeBob, but as seen later in the episode, he tries to hire him back.
This is just my fan theory/speculation, but I think Señor Taco realized that he overreacted to SpongeBob's burrito patty not working out the first time by firing him. He later probably realized that burritos tend to be messy, so with a bit of work, he decided to give the burrito patty another chance (likely with an improved recipe) and it turned out to be a success, hence why he tried to get SpongeBob re-hired at his restaurant.
In my opinion, this would seem that Señor Taco likes to try new things and give others fair chances, but he sometimes has difficulty dealing with things not working out right, at least at first. Then again, a lot of us are that way. We sometimes struggle with things not going right or the way we think they should go, and sometimes we overreact and let emotions get the better of us, like with Señor Taco.
I think it's kind of too bad we don't see Señor Taco in the series (meaning in episodes) again after "SpongeBob You're Fired." To me, he seems like a nice character that could be used in future stories, and it would be nice to see some character development from him, too, like in my fan theory/speculation above.
But what are your thoughts on Señor Taco? Do you agree with my thoughts? Do you think he could use some more appreciation? Let me know in the comments.
